About the Role
Rajalakshmi Medical College & Hospital is seeking compassionate, skilled, and dedicated Home Nurses to provide high-quality, patient-centered nursing care at patients' residences. The ideal candidate will ensure continuity of care by delivering professional nursing services, monitoring patient progress, and educating patients and caregivers while maintaining the highest standards of clinical excellence and patient safety.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive nursing care to patients in their homes as per the physician's treatment plan.
- Assess patients' health status and monitor vital signs regularly.
- Administer medications, injections, IV fluids, oxygen therapy, and other prescribed treatments.
- Perform wound dressing, catheter care, tracheostomy care, PEG feeding, colostomy care, and other nursing procedures as required.
- Assist patients with activities of daily living, including bathing, feeding, mobility, and personal hygiene.
- Monitor and document patient progress, clinical observations, and treatment responses accurately.
- Identify changes in patient condition and immediately report concerns to the treating physician or healthcare team.
- Educate patients and family members on medication management, nutrition, infection prevention, rehabilitation, and home care practices.
- Maintain infection prevention and control standards during all nursing procedures.
- Ensure proper handling and maintenance of medical equipment used in home care.
- Provide emotional support and compassionate care to patients and their families.
- Coordinate with physicians, physiotherapists, and other healthcare professionals for continuity of care.
- Maintain confidentiality of patient information and adhere to hospital policies and ethical standards.
Eligibility CriteriaEducational Qualification
- ANM / GNM / B.Sc. Nursing (Mandatory)
- M.Sc. Nursing (Preferred)
Registration
- Valid Tamil Nadu Nurses and Midwives Council (TNNMC) Registration (Mandatory)
Experience
- Freshers with excellent clinical skills may apply.
- 1–5 years of experience in Medical-Surgical, ICU, Emergency, Geriatric, Palliative Care, or Home Healthcare is preferred.

- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
- Compassionate and empathetic approach to patient care
- Knowledge of infection control and patient safety practices
- Ability to work independently and manage emergency situations
- Good documentation and record-keeping skills
- Basic computer proficiency for maintaining patient records
- Willingness to travel for home visits
Preferred Competencies
- BLS/ACLS Certification (Preferred)
- Experience in critical care, ventilator care, post-operative care, or elderly care
- Ability to educate caregivers and family members effectively
- Multilingual proficiency (Tamil and English)
Working Conditions
- Flexible shifts (Day/Night)
- Travel within Chennai and nearby locations for home visits
- Weekend and holiday duties as per roster
- Emergency on-call responsibilities, if required
