About the Role:
The Electrical Design Engineer is responsible for designing, developing, and reviewing electrical systems, drawings, and specifications for commercial, residential, and industrial projects. The role involves ensuring compliance with relevant codes, standards, safety requirements, and client specifications.
Responsibilities:
1. Electrical System Design
Prepare load calculations, single-line diagrams (SLDs), and schematic drawings.
Design power distribution systems, panel boards (DBs, SMDBs, MDBs), LV/MV networks, and earthing & bonding systems.
Select appropriate cables, breakers (MCB/MCCB/RCBO/RCCB), transformers, generators, UPS, and switchgear.
Design lighting, small power, HVAC power connections, and control systems.
2. Technical Documentation
Prepare BOQs (Bill of Quantities), material specifications, and datasheets.
Develop technical reports, design notes, and method statements.
Review shop drawings and ensure compliance with design intent.
3. Standards & Compliance
Ensure designs comply with:
IEC / NEC / BS Standards
Local authority regulations
Safety codes and project specifications
Conduct short-circuit, voltage drop, and fault-level calculations.
4. Coordination & Communication
Coordinate with architectural, mechanical, civil, and low-voltage teams.
Attend meetings with clients, consultants, and contractors.
Provide technical support during site installation and commissioning.
5. Quality & Project Control
Conduct design reviews, value engineering, and quality checks.
Support in resolving technical issues at site.
Participate in testing & commissioning of electrical systems.kills & Qualifications
Technical Skills
Proficient in AutoCAD, ETAP, Dialux, Excel, and other engineering tools.
Strong knowledge of electrical systems, codes, and standards.
Experience with short-circuit analysis, load flow, and protection coordination.
Soft Skills
Strong communication and documentation skills.
Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
Good problem-solving and analytical skills.
Education & Experience
Bachelor’s Degree OR Diploma in Electrical Engineering ( DEE/B.E./B.Tech).
2–10+ years of relevant design experience (depending on job level).
