Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Machine Operation: Start, stop, and operate HPDC machines and peripherals (e.g., dosing furnaces, sprayers, and robotic arms) according to specific cycle parameters. [1, 2, 3, 4, 5]
- Parameter Control: Calibrate and adjust machine settings such as injection speed, hydraulic pressure, cycle times, and furnace temperatures for optimal production. [1]
- Die Maintenance: Prepare, install, and align dies in the machine. Routinely clean the dies and apply release agents/lubricants to prevent the molten metal from sticking. [1, 2, 3, 4, 5]
- Quality Control: Conduct first-piece inspections and in-process quality checks. Identify casting defects such as porosity, cold shuts, or shrinkage. [1]
- Safety Compliance: Adhere strictly to shop floor safety regulations. This includes properly wearing Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and following emergency procedures. [1, 2, 3]
- Documentation & Maintenance: Maintain production records regarding output, machine downtime, and rejected parts. Perform routine cleaning and basic maintenance on the machinery.
Requirements
- Education: High school diploma, GED, or vocational training in machining/mechanical trades.
- Experience: 1–3 years of prior experience in a manufacturing or die-casting environment.
- Physical Strength: Ability to stand for long periods and regularly lift heavy objects (often up to 50 lbs). [1, 2, 3, 4, 5]
