German Teacher – Classes IV to X
Full-Time | On-Site | Residential School | Mussoorie
St. George’s College, Mussoorie – a premier 173-year-old all-boys boarding school affiliated with the ICSE Council – is seeking an experienced, dynamic and highly proficient German Teacher to join our academic team. The ideal candidate should have a strong command of the German language, a genuine flair for teaching and the ability to inspire and engage students from Classes IV to X in a stimulating academic environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, design and deliver engaging and effective German language lessons for Classes IV to X
- Develop structured and age-appropriate lesson plans and learning resources
- Teach German grammar, vocabulary, reading, writing, listening and speaking skills
- Encourage students to develop fluency and confidence in the German language
- Introduce students to German culture and the wider German-speaking world
- Prepare students for internal assessments and relevant language proficiency examinations
- Use innovative teaching methodologies and digital tools to enhance language learning
- Monitor and assess student progress and provide constructive feedback
- Collaborate with fellow teachers to promote interdisciplinary learning
- Participate in school programmes, co-curricular activities and pastoral responsibilities
- Contribute to the academic and residential life of the school, including occasional responsibilities beyond regular school hours
Qualifications & Skills
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in German, Foreign Languages, Education or a related field from a recognised university
- Advanced proficiency in German with a minimum B2 level; C1 level preferred
- Recognised German language certification such as Goethe-Zertifikat B2/C1 or an equivalent qualification preferred
- Minimum 5 years of relevant teaching experience, preferably in a reputed school
- Experience teaching German at the school level; familiarity with the ICSE/ISC curriculum will be an advantage
- B.Ed. preferred
- Excellent communication, presentation and classroom management skills
- Strong command of German grammar and pronunciation with the ability to develop students' conversational skills
- A genuine passion for teaching and the ability to inspire and motivate students
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a professional academic team
- Willingness to contribute to the pastoral and co-curricular life of a boarding school
