YOUR TASKS

Assist in the conceptualization, design, and development of optical systems and components including lenses, mirrors, and other optical devices.

Contribute to all phases of the product development lifecycle including requirements analysis, design, prototype, testing, and product delivery.

Maintain the integrity of all design aspects, such as optical system performance requirements, cost objectives, and project schedule.

Work closely with cross-functional teams to support new product development, ensuring that optical designs meet system requirements and key performance parameters.

Create and manage design documentation, including specifications, analytical models, and drawings, ensuring that all are in compliance with company standards.

Analyze and interpret data from design and process experiments to optimize optical performance and manufacturability.

Support testing and validation activities of optical components and systems to ensure quality and functionality.

Stay updated on the latest technologies and developments within the optics industry to identify opportunities for innovation and improvement.

Conduct feasibility studies for new projects, contributing to technology advancements for next-generation optics designs.

Collaborate with suppliers, business partners, and customers to acquire technical knowledge, feedback, and insights that can guide the optics design process.

Assist in training and guiding junior engineers and designers in optics design principles and applications.

Remain compliant with all regulatory, health, and safety standards in the execution of duties.

Perform any other tasks as required by the Manager - Optics Design, to ensure the successful completion of projects and organizational objectives.

YOUR QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Optical Engineering, Physics, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5-10 years’ experience in optics design and development.
- Strong knowledge of optical design software such as Zemax, CODE V, LightTools, or FRED.
- Experience with the product development lifecycle, including conceptualization, design, prototyping, and testing.
- Excellent technical documentation skills, with experience in using CAD software like AutoCAD or SolidWorks.
- Demonstrated ability to analyze and interpret data from design and process experiments.
- Experience working with cross-functional teams in a collaborative environment.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with an ability to effectively convey complex optics concepts and ideas.
- Problem-solving and decision-making skills, with the ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
- Knowledge of industry standards and regulations related to optics design.
- Detail-oriented with a strong commitment to quality, performance, and continuous learning.
- Familiarity with managing suppliers and working collaboratively to meet project objectives.
- Willingness to stay updated on the latest industry technologies and trends.
