Job Title: Mobile Developer

About the Role:
Our client is a multi-entity technology group building and operating a regulated SaaS platform with a mobile application aimed at end users including parents, students and staff. This role builds and maintains that mobile app: native or cross-platform, on iOS and Android, integrated with the platform's APIs, and held to the security, privacy and reliability standards a service handling sensitive data requires. You own the mobile client end to end, from implementation through store release to in production support.
Environment and remit.
- Software engineering is performed in India by India based developers, so you work in the same timezone and collaborate directly with the team day to day.
- The app serves end users on a range of devices and OS versions, including younger users and parents, so usability, accessibility and safe by default behaviour matter as much as features.
- The mobile client consumes the same backend APIs as the web product and must respect tenant, region and role context, plus dataresidency requirements.
- Releases run through the app stores, so you manage store compliance, versioning, staged rollout and update adoption alongside the normal dev-to-production flow.
Key responsibilities.
- Mobile app development: design, build and maintain the iOS and Android app using a native (Swift/Kotlin) or cross platform (e.g. React Native or Flutter) approach, with clean, maintainable, well structured code.
- API integration and offline behaviour: integrate with backend services and APIs; handle state, caching, connectivity loss and synchronisation gracefully on mobile.
- Mobile security and privacy: implement secure authentication, secure local storage, certificate handling and privacy respecting data handling appropriate to sensitive data, including platform permission models.
- Notifications and device features: implement push notifications and relevant device capabilities, including any safety/escalation flows surfaced to end users, with care and reliability.
- Performance and stability: optimise app performance, battery and memory use; monitor and reduce crashes; maintain stability across devices and OS versions.
- Store release management: prepare and manage App Store and Play Store submissions, store policy compliance, versioning, staged rollouts and update adoption.
- Quality: write tests, participate in code review, and support mobile issues through to resolution in production.
- Collaboration: work with design, product and backend to shape mobile appropriate experiences and flag platform specific constraints.
Who you'll work with. Backend engineers, the tech lead and architecture function, product and design, the QA engineer(s), and the infrastructure/DevOps function for build, signing and distribution - coordinating with the wider team and, where the app serves the regional deployment, the operator's in-house data and product team.
Required skills and experience.
- Strong hands on mobile development native (Swift and/or Kotlin) or cross platform (React Native or Flutter) with shipped apps on the App Store and/or Play Store.
- Solid API integration, mobile state management, and handling of offline/poor-connectivity scenarios.
- Good grasp of mobile security and privacy: secure storage, authentication, permissions and platform privacy requirements.
- Experience with the full release cycle, including store submission, compliance and staged rollout.
- Performance, crash monitoring and stability discipline across devices and OS versions.
- Comfortable in a multi-tenant, role and consent aware, data sensitive product context.
Desirable. Both iOS and Android depth; push notification and deep linking experience; experience building apps used by children or families and the associated safety/privacy considerations; familiarity with mobile CI/CD and crash/analytics tooling; exposure to a regulated or safeguarding sensitive domain; awareness of SOC 2 / ISO 27001 expectations as they touch mobile data handling.
Compliance. Works within the group's information security policy, app store policies, and India DPDP data handling expectations with particular care for data, consent and on-device privacy. Awareness of SOC 2 and ISO/IEC 27001 control environments is an advantage given the group's certification trajectory.
Success measures. Stable, performant, store compliant iOS and Android releases; clean API integration with graceful offline behaviour; secure, privacy respecting handling of sensitive data; low crash rates and healthy update adoption; and a mobile experience end users, including families, find clear and trustworthy.
