As a Software Engineer you will work as part of a team responsible for actively participating in driving and leading product development, strategy and building enriched sustenance. In addition, you will participate in activities that include testing and debugging of operating systems that run NetApp storage applications. As part of the Research and Development function, the overall focus of the group is on competitive market and customer requirements, supportability, technology advances, product quality, product cost and time-to-market. Software engineers focus on enhancements to existing products as well as new product development
Cloud File System group is a core group that develops storage access protocols and features viz. NFS/CIFS/S3/Cloud and provide cutting access solutions to the ONTAP storage operating systems. The group provides high business value to product revenue and is looking for strong engineers to design, architect and sustain its solutions.
- Work as a member of the team on projects involving development of new features, sustenance, handling engineering escalations
- Participate in product design, development, verification, troubleshooting, and delivery of a system or major subsystems
- Assist in development of project specifications and release documentation and/or all phases of the product development cycle
- Perform feature development activities including:

Implementation inline with design

Testing and/or Unit Testing

Performance analysis
- Works independently with very little supervision. Should be able to work with other engineers and solve technical issues
- Product Sustenance activities like root causing, bug fixing and functional verification using automation.
- Willing to work on additional tasks and responsibilities that will contribute towards team, department, and company goals
- Expected and assumed: independence, drive, motivation, willingness to go above and beyond, flexibility, and cooperative spirit
- Effectively work within the company guidelines including time to time working from office.
Skill-sets required in the role:
- Strong in C/C++, OOD, Python is a plus
- Operating systems Fundamentals - Kernel programming experience is a plus
- Awareness fundamentals in TCP/IP and Computer Networking
- Demonstrates excellent algorithm and logic development using data structures
- Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Work collaboratively within a team of other engineers and have strong influencing and leadership skills
- Ability to ramp up quickly on the project assignment and execute it with minimal guidance and direction
- Strong aptitude for learning new technologies
- Ability to estimate work completion required to build an overall predictable plan
- Creative and analytical approach to problem solving
Typically requires a minimum of 2-3 years of related experience with a bachelor’s degree or 1-2 years with master’s degree Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Systems or an equivalent degree. This position requires an individual to be creative, team-oriented, technology savvy and a fast learner.
