About the Role
We are hiring an Associate Principal Engineer for our client, a leading fintech company based in Bangalore.
The company is building scalable digital financial products across lending, savings, investments, protection, and other digital financial services. This is a strong product engineering opportunity for candidates who enjoy building high-quality backend systems, working on microservices architecture, and solving real-world technology challenges at scale.
The ideal candidate should have strong hands-on experience in Java, Spring Boot, microservices, API design, databases, and cloud/container technologies.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend services and APIs.
- Build high-quality software aligned with business goals and user needs.
- Work on microservices-based architecture and distributed systems.
- Design systems that are scalable, secure, reliable, and resilient.
- Collaborate with product, engineering, and cross-functional teams.
- Participate in design discussions, code reviews, and technical decision-making.
- Troubleshoot complex technical issues and improve system performance.
- Follow best practices in software development, testing, deployment, and documentation.
- Mentor junior engineers and contribute to improving engineering standards.
Required Skills
- 7–10 years of strong backend engineering experience.
- Strong hands-on experience in Java and Spring Boot.
- Good understanding of data structures, algorithms, API design, and system design.
- Experience in building and implementing services in a microservices architecture.
- Strong database experience with MySQL and/or PostgreSQL.
- Experience with technologies such as Kafka, Docker, containers, and Kubernetes.
- Exposure to public cloud platforms such as AWS or GCP.
- Proven experience in building complex web/backend systems.
- Strong problem-solving, analytical, and debugging skills.
- Good communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Preferred Skills
- Experience in fintech, lending, payments, banking, NBFC, or financial services domain.
- Experience building and scaling applications on cloud infrastructure.
- Experience with event-driven architecture using Kafka or similar messaging systems.
- Ability to review code, review design documents, mentor team members, and share technical knowledge.
- Exposure to HTML, CSS, JavaScript, React, Angular, or Vue will be an added advantage.
Candidate Eligibility
