About the Role
We are looking for a Senior React Developer with 8–10 years of experience to design, build, and maintain exceptional, enterprise-grade frontend applications. You will bring deep React.js and TypeScript expertise — architecting scalable component libraries, complex state management solutions, and high-performance user interfaces that delight users and meet rigorous enterprise standards. You will play a leading role in frontend architecture decisions, drive engineering best practices, mentor fellow developers, and collaborate closely with UX designers, backend engineers, and product owners to deliver outstanding digital experiences in an Agile environment.
Key Responsibilities
React Development & Architecture
- Design and develop scalable, high-performance React.js applications using TypeScript, modern hooks, and functional component patterns — delivering pixel-perfect, accessible, and responsive user interfaces.
- Architect and implement reusable, well-documented component libraries aligned to design system standards — using Storybook to document and showcase components for cross-team consumption.
- Design and implement complex state management solutions using Redux Toolkit, Redux Saga, React Query, or Context API — ensuring predictable, performant, and maintainable application state across large-scale React applications.
- Implement micro-frontend architecture using Module Federation or equivalent — enabling independent team delivery and scalable frontend composition across enterprise platforms.
- Build and optimise Next.js applications — leveraging server-side rendering (SSR), static site generation (SSG), and incremental static regeneration (ISR) for performance-critical and SEO-sensitive use cases.
- Develop and enforce frontend architecture patterns — Clean Architecture, Feature-Driven Development, Atomic Design — ensuring long-term maintainability and scalability of the frontend codebase.
Performance & Quality
- Implement comprehensive frontend performance optimisation strategies — code splitting, lazy loading, memoisation, bundle size optimisation, and Core Web Vitals improvement (LCP, FID, CLS).
- Enforce WCAG accessibility standards (AA / AAA) across all UI components and pages — conducting accessibility audits and remediating issues to ensure inclusive user experiences.
- Write comprehensive unit, component, and end-to-end tests using Jest, React Testing Library, Cypress, and Playwright — maintaining high test coverage and regression confidence across the frontend codebase.
- Conduct visual regression testing using Applitools or Percy — ensuring UI consistency across browsers, devices, and screen sizes through automated visual validation.
- Enforce code quality standards using ESLint, Prettier, and pre-commit hooks (Husky / Lint-staged) — maintaining a clean, consistent, and well-linted codebase across the team.
API Integration & Real-time Features
- Integrate React frontends with backend REST APIs and GraphQL services — managing asynchronous data flows, loading states, error handling, and cache invalidation using React Query or Apollo Client.
- Implement real-time data features using WebSockets or Server-Sent Events — delivering live dashboards, notifications, and collaborative features within React applications.
- Implement secure frontend authentication flows — OAuth2, JWT, session management, and token refresh — integrating with identity providers (Auth0, Azure AD, Cognito) for enterprise-grade security.
DevOps & Delivery
- Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines for frontend delivery — automating build, lint, test, and deployment workflows using GitLab CI, GitHub Actions, or Azure DevOps.
- Manage frontend cloud deployments on AWS (S3, CloudFront, Amplify), Azure Static Web Apps, or Vercel / Netlify — configuring CDN, caching strategies, and environment-specific builds.
- Manage monorepo tooling using Nx or Turborepo — optimising build times, managing shared libraries, and enforcing consistent tooling across multiple frontend packages.
- Contribute to Docker containerisation of frontend applications — building optimised multi-stage Docker images for consistent, environment-agnostic frontend deployments.
Leadership & Collaboration
- Lead frontend technical design discussions — contributing React and frontend architecture expertise to solution design, trade-off analysis, and architectural decision-making across programmes.
- Conduct thorough code reviews — providing constructive, knowledge-sharing feedback that elevates code quality, consistency, and engineering standards across the frontend team.
- Collaborate closely with UX Designers (Figma handoff), Backend Engineers, QA, and Product Owners — ensuring seamless, end-to-end feature delivery aligned to design intent and business requirements in Agile sprints.
- Mentor and coach junior and mid-level React developers — conducting knowledge-sharing sessions, pair programming, and career development support.
- Contribute to and promote frontend engineering best practices — maintaining team coding standards, architectural decision records (ADRs), and technical documentation.
What We're Looking For
- 8–10 years of frontend development experience with deep, demonstrable expertise in React.js and TypeScript in large-scale production environments.
- Advanced React.js proficiency — Hooks, Functional Components, custom hook development, performance patterns, and complex component architecture.
- Strong TypeScript skills — type system mastery, generics, utility types, and typed API integration in large-scale React applications.
- Proven state management expertise — Redux Toolkit, Redux Saga, React Query, and Context API — in complex, data-intensive enterprise frontend applications.
- Strong Next.js experience — SSR, SSG, ISR, and App Router — for performance-critical, SEO-sensitive production applications.
- Experience architecting and delivering micro-frontend solutions using Module Federation or equivalent — in multi-team enterprise delivery environments.
- Deep knowledge of frontend performance optimisation — Core Web Vitals, code splitting, lazy loading, memoisation, and bundle size management.
- Strong API integration skills — REST (Axios / Fetch), GraphQL (Apollo Client / urql), WebSockets — with robust error handling, caching, and loading state management.
- Comprehensive testing experience — Jest, React Testing Library, Cypress, Playwright — with a strong commitment to test coverage and TDD / BDD practices.
- In-depth knowledge of WCAG accessibility standards and cross-browser / cross-device compatibility requirements.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills — able to articulate frontend architecture decisions clearly to technical peers, UX designers, and non-technical stakeholders.
Nice to Have
- Experience with AI-augmented frontend development — integrating LLM-powered features (chatbots, copilots, intelligent search) into React applications using LangChain.js or Vercel AI SDK.
- Familiarity with WebAssembly (WASM) for high-performance browser-side computation.
- Knowledge of PWA development — service workers, offline capabilities, push notifications.
- Exposure to React Native for cross-platform mobile development alongside web.
- Experience with 3D / data visualisation libraries — Three.js, D3.js, Recharts, Victory — for complex data-rich UI development.
- Familiarity with edge computing and edge rendering patterns — Vercel Edge Functions, Cloudflare Workers.
- Experience with Design Token management and multi-brand design system implementation.
- AWS Certified Developer Associate or Microsoft Azure Developer Associate certification.
- Experience in Financial Services, FinTech, Retail, or other regulated industry environments.
