Job Description / Roles & Responsibilities
Executive Summary
The Technical Lead – C++ Development (Assistant Manager) is a highly technical, hands-on role designed for an exceptional systems engineer transitioning into their first formal leadership capacity. This individual will spend approximately 85–90% of their time actively designing, coding, and debugging microsecond-sensitive applications, and 10–15% guiding junior developers and spearheading small-scale technical modules. The role is ideal for a code warrior who wants to remain deeply rooted in low-latency C++ programming while scaling up their technical management capabilities.
Core Role Information
Designation: Technical Lead (Assistant Manager) – C++ Development
Department: Technology
Reporting To: Technical Lead (Manager / Senior Manager)
Key Responsibilities
1. High-Performance C++ Engineering & Delivery (Primary Focus)
Write, refactor, and maintain lightning-fast systems-level code using Modern C++ (C++17/20) for critical modules like market data normalization, pre-trade risk checks, and execution routers.
Enforce rigorous low-latency programming principles, employing object pools, ring buffers, and placement new to guarantee zero runtime heap allocations (malloc/free) on the trading hot-path.
Develop and implement ultra-fast Inter-Process Communication (IPC) frameworks, utilizing Linux shared memory (shmget/mmap) and lock-free queues to pass messages with sub-microsecond latency.
Implement deterministic multi-threading models, ensuring thread safety via atomic operations and configuring CPU thread affinity (pthread_setaffinity_np) to minimize cache line bouncing and OS context switches.
Leverage template metaprogramming or High-Level Template (HTL) constructs to design powerful compile-time abstractions, ensuring zerooverhead runtime execution.
2. Data Engineering & Trading Systems Logic
Apply an expert-level command of Data Structures and Algorithms to choose or build custom structures (e.g., lock-free arrays, skip lists, binary trees) optimized for hardware cache locality.
Design, maintain, and optimize database tables, schemas, and lookup queries in MySQL to log transactions, capture drop-copy feeds, and track historical reference data.
Translate trading domain knowledge into code by implementing financial exchange protocols (e.g., FIX, ITCH, OUCH, or SBE), handling order lifecycles, and managing matching-engine communication mechanics.
3. Modular Ownership & Code Mentorship
Take full end-to-end ownership of specific software modules or components, ensuring they are delivered on time within agile sprint timelines.
Conduct meticulous peer code reviews for junior developers, ensuring strict compliance with low-latency standards and memory-safety guidelines.
Run automated profiling and benchmarking routines (e.g., Google Benchmark, Valgrind, Linux perf, gprof) to catch memory leaks, jitter, or latency regressions before code reaches production.
Job Specific Skills
C++ Expert: Advanced proficiency in C++ and the STL, with a deep understanding of raw pointers, manual memory tracking, references, and RAII patterns.
Concurrency Foundations: Strong hands-on experience writing threadsafe, multi-threaded pipelines, with absolute clarity on avoiding deadlocks, race conditions, and thread contention.
Hardware & OS Awareness: Good conceptual understanding of hardware-software interactions, including CPU cache hierarchies (L1/L2/L3), memory-mapped files, and branch predictors.
Data & DB Mechanics: Superior analytical skills for optimizing algorithms for low time and space complexity, paired with reliable relational database indexing skills in MySQL.
HTL Frameworks: Exposure to or practical experience utilizing templates or HTL concepts to achieve zero-cost abstractions.
Minimum Qualifications & Experience
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, or a highly quantitative science discipline.
Experience: 5 to 8 years of production-level experience in heavy systems programming (C++), with a proven track record of mentoring junior engineers or acting as a feature owner.
Domain Advantage: Prior exposure to high-frequency trading (HFT) infrastructure, proprietary trading groups, market data handlers, or digital exchange gateways is a significant plus.
Pay: Up to ₹1,800,000.00 per year
Work Location: In person
