# Job Overview
We are a leading manufacturer of high-quality Server Racks and Networking Enclosures. We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented SolidWorks Design Engineer to join our engineering team. In this role, you will be responsible for transforming concepts into production-ready 3D models and 2D manufacturing drawings.
The ideal candidate has a strong background in sheet metal design, an expert-level command of SolidWorks, and a deep understanding of the structural, thermal, and cable management requirements unique to data center and networking infrastructure.
## Key Responsibilities
- 3D Modeling & Design: Design and develop standard and customized server racks, network cabinets, wall-mount enclosures, and accessories using SolidWorks.
- Sheet Metal Optimization: Apply sheet metal design best practices (K-factors, bend allowances, punching, and laser cutting constraints) to ensure cost-effective manufacturing.
- DFM/DFA: Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA) to minimize production errors, scrap material, and assembly time.
- Technical Drawings: Create detailed 2D manufacturing drawings with precise dimensions, tolerances (GD&T), welding symbols, and Flat Patterns for the CNC shop floor.
- BOM Generation: Generate and maintain accurate Bill of Materials (BOMs) within the ERP/PDM system.
- Thermal & Structural Awareness: Design with consideration for airflow, ventilation, weight-bearing capacity, and structural integrity.
- Prototyping & Testing: Collaborate with the workshop team to build, test, and refine prototypes based on physical feedback.
## Required Skills and Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Production Engineering, or a related field.
- Software Expertise: Advanced proficiency in SolidWorks (specifically Sheet Metal, Weldments, and Assembly modules). SolidWorks Certification (CSWA/CSWP) is a major plus.
- Industry Experience: Minimum of [X] years of experience designing sheet metal products, preferably server racks, enclosures, kiosks, or electrical cabinets.
- Manufacturing Knowledge: Strong understanding of manufacturing processes such as CNC turret punching, laser cutting, press brake bending, welding (TIG/MIG), and powder coating.
- Standards: Familiarity with industry standards (e.g., EIA-310-D/E standards for 19-inch racks, IP/NEMA ratings) is highly desirable.
- Attention to Detail: Excellent spatial visualization and a sharp eye for tolerances and fitments.
## What We Offer
- Competitive salary based on experience.
- Health insurance and benefits package.
- Opportunity to work with cutting-edge manufacturing machinery.
- A collaborative and innovative work environment.
