Senior Manager – IT (MES & Traceability Systems)

Head – ITRole Purpose
The Senior Manager – IT (MES & Traceability) will be responsible for
end-to-end
governance, solution ownership, and strategic evolutionof Manufacturing Execution
Systems (MES) and Traceability platforms across multiple manufacturing plants.The role requires strong
technical depth in digital manufacturing applications,
combined withenterprise IT governance, infrastructure understanding, and software
development knowledge, to ensure scalable, secure, and business-aligned solutions.Key Responsibilities
MES & Traceability Governance•
Act asoverall owner and governing authorityfor MES and Traceability
applications across plants.•
Define and enforceMES/Traceability architecture standards, data models, and
integration principles.•
Ensure alignment of MES & Traceability systems withproduction, quality,
maintenance, and supply chain processes.•
Ownsolution roadmap, upgrades, and functional expansions in line with
business priorities.Application & Solution Management
•
Governend-to-end application lifecycle: design, development, deployment,
enhancements, and support.•
Ensure robustintegration with SAP (PP, QM, MM), shopfloor systems, PLCs,
scanners, printers, IoT devices, and WMS where applicable.•
Overseevendor/SI performance, solution SLAs, upgrades, and change
management.•
Standardizeplant-wise rollouts, templates, and configuration governance to
avoid customization sprawl.
Technical Architecture & Infrastructure Oversight•
Possess strong working knowledge ofIT infrastructuresupporting MES,
including:o
Application & database servers (On-prem / Cloud / Hybrid)o
Network & shopfloor connectivityo
Cybersecurity, access control, and data protection•
Ensurehigh availability, disaster recovery, backup, and performance standardsfor MES platforms.
•
Collaborate with Infrastructure, Network, Cloud, SOC/NOC teams for holistic IT
governance.Software Development & Integration Governance
•
Guide and reviewcustom development, interfaces, APIs, and middleware designrelated to MES & Traceability.
•
EnforceSDLC, DevOps, version control, testing, and release governance.•
Review code quality, performance, security, and scalability (hands-on
understanding required).Compliance, Security & Data Governance
•
Ensure compliance withIT security, data privacy, audit, and regulatory
requirements.•
Governproduction data integrity, serialisation, genealogy, lot/serial traceability,
and audit trails.•
Work closely with InfoSec teams oncyber risks in shopfloor and OT-IT
convergence.Stakeholder & Program Leadership
•
Work closely withManufacturing, Quality, SCM, Maintenance, and Business
Leadershipteams.•
Translate business needs intotechnology roadmaps and execution programs.•
Lead internal teams, SMEs, and external partners inlarge multi-plant digital
manufacturing initiatives.Educational Qualification
•Post-Graduate / Graduate degree mandatory, preferably:o
B.Tech / MCA (IT, Computer Science, Electronics, Automation)o
MBA (Systems / Operations / Digital Transformation) with strong technical
backgroundExperience
•
12–18+ years of total IT experience, with significant exposure in:o
Manufacturing IT / Digital Manufacturingo
MES & Traceability systems in discrete or process manufacturing•
7–10 yearsinsenior/lead rolemanaging enterprise-scale applications or
manufacturing systems.•
Proven experience working inmulti-plant manufacturing environments.Technical Skills & Expertise
MES & Manufacturing Systems
•
Deep understanding ofMES, Traceability, Serialization, Genealogy, Production
Tracking, and Quality systems.•
Hands-on exposure toleading MES platforms(e.g., DELMIA Apriso, Siemens
Opcenter, Rockwell FTPC, or similar).Enterprise Systems & Integration
•
Strong integration experience withSAP PP / QM / MM, middleware, APIs, and
interfaces.•
Understanding ofPLC/Machine integration, scanners, printers, IoT devices, and
shopfloor data capture.IT Infrastructure & Platforms
•
Working knowledge of:o

Cloud & hybrid architectureso
Network & cybersecurity fundamentals
•Ability to evaluate solutions fromperformance, scalability, security, and TCOperspective.
Software Development
