Job Summary
The Unified Communications Engineering team is looking for a motivated software development engineering manager who can lead a team of DevOps and software development engineers to develop and operate our real time communication applications & platform. We are looking for someone who is an excellent collaborator and has proven experience in hiring, building and leading diverse teams. You would be responsible for managing a team of developers and devops engineers to develop and operate backend components of a real-time communications platform including but not limited to VoIP softphone, Conferencing, Screen Share, Voicemail, Call Recording, and Restful API Services. You will lead and drive a team culture made up of diverse individuals with varied experience levels from Junior to Expert. The selected person should be a technical leader and a team player who has experience working with a geographically distributed team. Must possess strong analytical and development experience to assess the existing platform and work with the team to scale, harden, optimize, and build new solutions to improve customer experience.

Lead Engineering & Platform Ownership
Lead a team of software and DevOps engineers building and operating real-time communication platforms. Own the technical direction, scalability, and reliability of customer-facing services.
Global & Cross-Functional Collaboration
Serve as the primary owner for assigned platforms, driving alignment across Chennai and US teams on delivery and long-term technical direction.
Partner with cross-functional stakeholders to align on requirements, design decisions, and change management.
Drive Delivery & Execution
Own end-to-end delivery, including planning, prioritization, and execution within Agile frameworks. Ensure predictable, high-quality releases with strong focus on performance, stability, and operational excellence.
Provide Technical Leadership
Guide system design and architecture for distributed, microservices-based platforms. Review designs, challenge assumptions, and ensure solutions are resilient, scalable, and aligned with long-term platform goals.
Run Production Systems with Accountability
Oversee production health, drive improvements in observability and reliability, and ensure timely resolution of issues. Establish strong engineering practices for operating real-time, high-availability systems.
Build & Develop Talent
Hire, mentor, and develop engineers across experience levels. Foster a culture of ownership, continuous learning, and accountability.
Drive Continuous Improvement
Promote DevSecOps practices, automation, and CI/CD adoption to improve engineering velocity, system quality, and operational efficiency. Leverage AI-assisted development and operational insights to enhance developer productivity, code quality, and system reliability.

Proven ability to lead engineering teams and build strong cross-team partnerships

Strong written and verbal communication skills for both technical and non-technical audiences

Strong experience in system design, distributed systems, and microservices-based architectures

Experience building and operating scalable, resilient backend systems and APIs

Understanding of service communication, fault tolerance, observability, and performance optimization

Proficiency in any modern programming languages (e.g., Java, Go, Python etc.) is preferred
