Senior Market Research Analyst
Position Summary
Overlook Global is seeking a Senior Market Research Analyst to support the firm's hospitality and real estate investment platform. This role will be responsible for conducting market intelligence, competitive analysis, economic research, and hospitality market evaluations that support acquisition underwriting, investment decisions, and portfolio strategy.
The Senior Market Research Analyst will work closely with the Senior Financial Analyst, Underwriting Team, and U.S. Acquisitions Team to evaluate investment opportunities, identify market trends, assess supply and demand dynamics, and provide actionable insights to senior leadership.
This position plays a critical role in determining where Overlook Global should invest by analyzing market fundamentals, demand drivers, competitive positioning, and long-term investment risks.
Key ResponsibilitiesMarket Research & Intelligence
- Conduct detailed hospitality and commercial real estate market research.
- Analyze local, regional, and national economic trends.
- Evaluate market supply and demand fundamentals.
- Research demographic, employment, population, and economic growth trends.
- Identify emerging investment opportunities and market risks.
- Monitor industry trends impacting hotel and real estate performance.
Hospitality Market Analysis
- Analyze hotel market performance using STR and other industry data sources.
- Evaluate occupancy, ADR, RevPAR, and market penetration trends.
- Review competitive set performance and market positioning.
- Analyze new hotel supply pipelines and development activity.
- Assess market demand generators including corporate, healthcare, university, government, tourism, and industrial demand sources.
Acquisition & Investment Support
- Support acquisition underwriting through market research and validation of assumptions.
- Analyze target markets and submarkets for potential investment opportunities.
- Prepare market summaries and investment recommendations.
- Assist in evaluating acquisition opportunities and strategic initiatives.
- Research ownership, transaction, and operating performance trends.
Investment Committee Support
- Prepare market research sections for Investment Memoranda.
- Develop charts, graphs, exhibits, and analytical summaries.
- Present key market findings and investment risks.
- Support preparation of Investment Committee materials and presentations.
Competitive & Industry Analysis
- Monitor competitor activity and market developments.
- Analyze hotel transaction activity and market pricing trends.
- Track hospitality industry performance indicators.
- Research franchise, brand, and management company trends.
Data Analysis & Reporting
- Collect, organize, and analyze market data from multiple sources.
- Maintain market databases and research repositories.
- Prepare recurring market intelligence reports.
- Support Power BI reporting and dashboard development.

Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Economics, Real Estate, Business, Hospitality, Statistics, or a related field.
- 3+ years of experience in market research, commercial real estate research, hospitality research, economic analysis, or investment research.
- Strong analytical and quantitative skills.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
- Experience analyzing large datasets and identifying market trends.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to prepare professional reports and presentations.
- Experience conducting independent research and presenting findings.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Preferred Qualifications
- Hospitality industry experience.
- Commercial real estate research experience.
- Experience with STR, CoStar, Trepp, Crexi, or similar platforms.
- Experience preparing investment memoranda or investment committee materials.
- Familiarity with Power BI and data visualization tools.
- Experience supporting acquisitions, underwriting, or investment teams.
