1. Position Overview
Sauber Environmental Solutions Pvt. Ltd. is seeking a dedicated Environmental Engineer / Proposal Engineer with strong technical, analytical, and client-oriented skills to support its growing portfolio of environmental infrastructure projects. This role plays a crucial part in pre-sales engineering, project proposals, technical bid preparation, cost estimation, process design, and coordination with clients/consultants.
The person will act as a technical bridge between business development and project execution teams, ensuring technically sound and commercially competitive proposals aligned with industry standards and regulatory compliance.
2. Job Summary
As an Environmental Engineer / Proposal Engineer, you will:
- Develop technical proposals and bid documents for STP/ETP/WTP/ industrial & municipal contracts
- Conduct process design and techno-commercial evaluations
- Prepare cost estimates, BOQ, and project deliverables such as datasheets, P&IDs, and Gantt charts
- Support RFP (Request for Proposal) analysis, tender clarifications, and technical presentations
- Collaborate with internal design, planning, and execution teams to ensure feasibility and accuracy
3. Key ResponsibilitiesA. Proposal & Tender Engineering
- Review and analyze tender documents, technical specifications, and scope of work
- Conduct gap analysis and prepare technical/commercial queries for RFIs
- Develop complete technical proposals: executive summary, scope, process design, deliverables, and risk mitigation
- Coordinate with procurement & finance teams for pricing, cost structures, and commercial terms
- Prepare bid comparison sheets and justification for recommended solutions
B. Technical Design & Engineering
- Assist senior engineers in developing process design calculations
- Generate preliminary layouts, flow diagrams, equipment selection, and sizing
- Evaluate multiple technological options for treatment processes (e.g., SBR, MBBR, MBR, Clarifiers, Filters)
- Collaborate with design team to integrate civil, mechanical, electrical inputs
- Conduct feasibility assessments to optimize plant performance and CAPEX/OPEX
C. Cost Estimation & BOQ Preparation
- Prepare detailed cost estimates including material, equipment, civil works, and installation
- Create BOQs aligned with client expectations and tender norms
- Evaluate vendor quotes and integrate pricing into proposals
- Ensure proposal compliance with financial parameters and profitability guidelines
D. Client & Consultant Coordination
- Address pre-bid queries and provide clarifications during tender stage
- Present technical solution and proposal benefits to clients/consultants
- Attend pre-bid and technical meetings as required
- Maintain professional communication and document all interactions
E. Documentation & Compliance
- Prepare proposal documentation: technical write-ups, datasheets, Gantt charts, cost breakdowns
- Ensure proposals comply with statutory, environmental, and regulatory norms
- Keep templates and standard engineering documents updated
- Maintain records of bids submitted and outcomes
4. Required Skills & CompetenciesTechnical Skills
- Strong foundations in environmental engineering, especially water/waste-water treatment processes
- Familiarity with STP/ETP/WTP technologies and standards
- Competence in process engineering and treatment plant performance calculations
- Knowledge of industry standards, environmental regulations (CPCB/SPCB norms)
- Proficiency in MS Office (Excel modeling), AutoCAD (for layouts), and process simulation tools (desired)
- Understanding of cost modeling, finance basics, profitability analysis

- Lead preparation of technical proposals under guidance of Department/Project Head
