Job Title: SEO & Digital Marketing Specialist (Remote), WordPress, Content & AI Search

Location: Remote (must have meaningful overlap with Pacific Time business hours)

Type: Full-time

About the role

We're looking for an SEO and digital marketing specialist who can take ownership of our online presence and drive real, measurable growth in organic traffic, leads, and consultation bookings. You'll manage our WordPress website, run a high-frequency content program around Canadian immigration news, optimize our Google Business Profile, and make sure our content gets surfaced by both traditional search engines and AI chatbots (ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude, Perplexity). This is a hands-on role for someone who lives in the data and can show the impact of their work.

What you'll do

Own and execute our SEO strategy end-to-end: keyword research, on-page optimization, technical SEO, internal linking, and link-building, with a focus on competitive immigration keywords (e.g. "immigration consultant Vancouver," "Express Entry," "spousal sponsorship").
Manage and update our WordPress website: publish posts, optimize page structure and metadata, manage plugins (Yoast/Rank Math, schema, caching), fix technical issues, and keep the site fast and crawlable.
Run a consistent content program: write or coordinate daily news posts on Canada immigration updates (IRCC draws, policy changes, PNP updates) plus weekly evergreen guides — all accurate, well-structured, and conversion-focused.
Optimize content for AI/generative search (GEO/AEO): structure articles so they're easily cited by AI chatbots — direct-answer summaries, FAQ sections, clean data tables, and structured data (JSON-LD: Article, FAQPage, LocalBusiness).
Manage our Google Business Profile: regular posts, service listings, Q&A, photo updates, and review generation to improve local ranking and visibility.
Track, measure, and report: set up and monitor Google Analytics, Search Console, and rank tracking; deliver monthly reports tying activity to outcomes (rankings, traffic, leads, bookings).
Stay current on Canadian immigration news daily so content is timely and authoritative.

What you'll be measured on

This role is results-driven. Success looks like:

Growth in organic search traffic and keyword rankings (target first-page / top-3 for priority terms).
Increase in qualified leads and consultation bookings from organic and local search.
Improved Google Business Profile visibility, ranking, and review volume.
Demonstrable presence in AI chatbot answers for relevant immigration queries.
On-time, consistent publishing cadence.

What we're looking for

3+ years of hands-on SEO and digital marketing experience with a track record of measurable results (please bring examples or case studies).
Strong working knowledge of WordPress (publishing, plugins, basic troubleshooting; light HTML/CSS a plus).
Proven on-page and technical SEO skills, including schema/structured data.
Solid content creation ability — clear, accurate, engaging writing in fluent English.
Familiarity with optimizing content for AI/LLM discovery (generative engine optimization).
Experience managing Google Business Profile and local SEO.
Fluency with Google Analytics (GA4), Search Console, and at least one rank-tracking/SEO tool (Ahrefs, SEMrush, etc.).
Self-directed and reliable in a remote setting, with strong reporting habits.
Proficient in English

Nice to have

Experience marketing for immigration, legal, education, or professional-services firms.
Graphic/social content creation (Canva, etc.).
