INDIA, AHMEDABAD

ioVista is looking for an experienced WordPress Backend Developer with 4–5 years of hands-on experience in building, customizing, and maintaining scalable WordPress solutions. The candidate should have strong backend development expertise with a focus on performance optimization, security, and custom plugin development.

This role involves implementing robust, secure, and high-performing WordPress websites. You will be responsible for developing clean, maintainable code and ensuring backend systems support business, performance, and scalability requirements.

Key Responsibilities

Develop, customize, and maintain WordPress backend functionality and website features.
Build and customize WordPress plugins and themes based on project requirements.
Implement and manage custom post types, taxonomies, and WordPress REST APIs.
Optimize website performance, scalability, and backend architecture.
Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve backend issues, bugs, and errors.
Integrate third-party APIs, tools, and payment gateways.
Manage MySQL databases and write optimized queries.
Ensure website security, regular backups, version updates, and best practices compliance.
Collaborate with frontend developers, designers, and project managers for seamless delivery.
Follow coding standards, documentation practices, and development best practices.

Required Skills

4–5 years of hands-on experience in WordPress backend development.
Strong proficiency in PHP, MySQL, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
Proven experience in custom plugin development and theme customization.
Strong understanding of WordPress hooks, actions, and filters.
Experience working with REST APIs and AJAX.
Knowledge of security best practices and performance optimization techniques.
Experience with Git or other version control systems.
Familiarity with WooCommerce backend customization.

Preferred Traits

Experience with ACF, WPML, or Polylang.
Knowledge of headless WordPress implementations.
Experience integrating payment gateways and third-party services.
Familiarity with cloud hosting environments such as AWS or managed WordPress hosting.
