Role Overview
We are seeking a highly experienced and competent General Surgeon to join our surgical team. The ideal candidate will bring a strong clinical background, sound surgical judgment, and a patient-first approach to delivering high-quality surgical care. The role demands expertise across a broad spectrum of elective and emergency surgical procedures within a fast-paced hospital environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Independently perform a wide range of elective and emergency general surgical procedures including abdominal, gastrointestinal, laparoscopic, breast, thyroid, hernia, and trauma surgeries
- Conduct thorough pre-operative assessment, diagnosis, and surgical planning for each patient
- Lead and supervise the surgical team in the operating theatre, ensuring the highest standards of patient safety and sterile technique
- Provide comprehensive post-operative care, monitor recovery, and manage complications proactively
- Collaborate closely with anaesthesiologists, intensivists, nursing staff, and other specialists for multidisciplinary patient management
- Attend and contribute to ward rounds, case discussions, morbidity and mortality reviews, and clinical audits
- Mentor and guide junior surgical residents, interns, and nursing staff
- Maintain accurate and complete clinical documentation, operation notes, and discharge summaries
- Adhere to all hospital protocols, clinical governance standards, and ethical guidelines
- Participate in on-call and emergency surgical duties as per departmental roster
Qualifications & Requirements
- MBBS with MS (General Surgery) or equivalent postgraduate surgical qualification from a recognised institution
- Valid registration with the Medical Council of India (MCI) / National Medical Commission (NMC) or relevant state medical council
- Minimum 5 years of post-MS surgical experience in a reputed hospital or surgical centre
- Proven proficiency in laparoscopic and open surgical techniques
- Experience in managing complex and high-risk surgical cases
- Fellowship or additional sub-specialty training (e.g. surgical oncology, GI surgery, minimal access surgery) will be an added advantage
