Job Summary
The Tandoor Cook is responsible for preparing and cooking tandoori dishes, maintaining hygiene standards, ensuring food quality, and supporting smooth kitchen operations. The role requires expertise in handling the tandoor oven and preparing authentic Indian breads, kebabs, and grilled items.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and cook tandoori items such as naan, roti, kebabs, tikka, and grilled dishes.
- Operate and maintain the tandoor oven safely and efficiently.
- Marinate meats, vegetables, and other ingredients as per recipes.
- Ensure food quality, taste, presentation, and consistency.
- Maintain cleanliness and hygiene in the kitchen area.
- Monitor stock levels of raw materials and inform management about shortages.
- Follow food safety and kitchen safety standards.
- Coordinate with other kitchen staff for timely food preparation and service.
- Minimize food wastage and maintain proper storage of ingredients.
- Ensure all dishes are prepared according to restaurant standards.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Knowledge of tandoori cooking techniques and Indian cuisine.
- Ability to operate a clay or gas tandoor oven.
- Understanding of food hygiene and safety practices.
- Good teamwork and communication skills.
- Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
- Physically fit and able to stand for long working hours.
Educational Qualification
- Minimum: High School / 10th Pass preferred.
- Professional culinary training is an added advantage.
Experience
- 2–5 years of experience as a Tandoor Cook or similar role in a restaurant/hotel.
