We are a Canadian-based structural component design company supporting truss manufacturers across North America. We specialize in delivering high-quality, production-ready truss, wall panel, and engineered wood product (EWP) designs for residential, multi-family, and commercial projects.
We are growing and looking to add an experienced Senior Truss Designer to join our team.
Our Senior Designer will be responsible for independently releasing designs to production and reviewing/checking the work of Intermediate and Junior Designers to ensure accuracy, constructability, and compliance with project requirements.
The role also includes developing efficient layouts and supporting estimating activities for project quotations, with a strong focus on design optimization, manufacturability, and cost efficiency.
Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced Senior Truss Designer to join our growing structural component design team. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in residential, multi-family, and commercial wood construction projects, with proficiency in MiTek and/or Alpine software platforms.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and engineer roof trusses, floor trusses, roof rafters, wall panels, and engineered wood product (EWP) systems for residential, multi-family, and commercial projects.
- Prepare accurate and production-ready truss layouts, placement plans, shop drawings, and detailed design packages based on architectural and structural plans.
- Review plans, specifications, and customer requirements to ensure structural integrity, manufacturability, code compliance, and cost efficiency.
- Optimize designs for material usage, production efficiency, and installation practicality.
- Generate beam calculations, hanger specifications, connection details, and associated structural components as required.
- Perform quality control reviews on drawings and design files prior to release to production.
- Review and validate designs completed by junior and intermediate designers.
- Maintain organized project documentation, revisions, and design records.
- Provide technical mentorship and guidance to junior team members while supporting drafting and design standards across the team.
- Assist manufacturing plants with troubleshooting, design clarifications, and production support when required.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering or a related discipline where statics, strength of materials, structural analysis, and structural design are core areas of study preferred.
- 7+ years of truss/component design experience preferred.
- Strong working knowledge of MiTek and/or Alpine software platforms
- Experience designing for Residential, Multi-family, Commercial projects
- Ability to read and interpret architectural and structural drawings.
- Strong understanding of wood framing systems and structural load paths.
- Advanced proficiency in MiTek and/or Alpine software platforms required.
- Extensive experience in the application and design of floor systems, roof systems, roof and floor trusses, tall walls, and engineered wood products including I-joists and LVL systems.
- Strong knowledge of building components, structural connections, rough framing practices, and the overall wood-frame construction process.
- Proven experience working on residential, multi-family, and commercial wood-frame construction projects.
- Expert ability to read and interpret architectural, structural, and mechanical blueprints and construction documents.
- Strong understanding of wood framing systems, structural load paths, gravity/lateral loads, constructability, and North American building standards.
- Ability to lead complex projects, resolve design challenges, and independently manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to create lean, manufacturable, and plant-efficient designs that optimize buildability, material usage, and cost efficiency.
- Experience reviewing production files, manufacturing packages, and shop drawings for accuracy and release readiness.
- Familiarity with truss manufacturing workflows, production processes, and product costing considerations.
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to resolve incomplete, ambiguous, or conflicting project information, blueprint errors, and design omissions.
- Excellent communication and coordination skills, both verbal and written.
- Proven ability to work independently in a remote team environment while maintaining high quality and production standards.
- Experience mentoring junior designers and reviewing design work is strongly preferred.
Preferred Skills
- Experience with wall panel and tall wall design.
- Experience with I-joists, LVL systems, beams, hangers, and other EWP applications.
- Exposure to product costing, material optimization, and manufacturing efficiency improvements.
- Familiarity with North American building codes and truss engineering standards.
- Experience supporting multi-plant or high-volume production environments.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
- Ability to lead design reviews and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.

Employment Structure & Schedule
- Job Type: Contractual / Independent Contractor
- Work Schedule: Night Shift (Monday to Friday)
- Daily Hours: 8 dedicated hours per day
- Weekends Off: Saturday and Sunday

Pay: ₹50,000.00 - ₹100,000.00 per month
