As a Lead Developer at Sapiens, you will be an active and productive member of an Agile/Scrum team participating in technical design, development or maintenance of our software products.
You will be involved in technical design, coding, testing/debugging, and documentation activities, while leveraging cloud-native architectures, AI-assisted development practices, and SaaS principles to drive scalable and high-quality solutions. In addition, you will lead a small team, fostering technical excellence, continuous learning, and contributing to the overall success of Sapiens.
- Perform Object Oriented analysis, design and development and maintenance of cloud-based, distributed systems.
- Analyse requirement specifications, understand the technical / functional context, carry out feasibility analysis and estimate effort.
- Write clean, maintainable, and efficient code adhering to coding standards.
- Participate in code reviews and design discussions.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior developers.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Business Analysts, QA, DevOps) and actively participate in Agile ceremonies.
- Prepare and maintain technical design documentation
- Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve complex application and production issues.
- Take ownership of assigned modules/features and drive them to completion.
- Continuously improve code quality, tools, and development processes.
- Collaborate with global teams to leverage shared knowledge and best practices
- Help in recruitment, assimilate necessary technical knowledge and share with team to meet organizational goals.
- Focus on learning technology, product and Insurance domain while performing above roles and responsibilities!
- Apply AI-assisted coding tools (Copilot, code analysers, refactoring assistants) to generate code (eg., Java, ReactJS, C++, SQL, Python, Spark, Dax etc.), improve code quality, reduce defects, and accelerate delivery in Sapiens products.
- Leverage AI models to interpret requirements, generate test cases, create documentation, and detect anomalies or optimization opportunities across the system
- Continuously explore and adopt emerging AI/automation practices relevant to Sapiens’ architecture, ensuring reuse and standardization across teams.
Must have Skills.
- Bachelor’s degree in science or engineering with 6 to 8 years of software development experience
- A solid foundation in computer science and software engineering principles
- Experience with relational databases (Oracle, SQL Server, DB2, etc.) and /or Big data platforms like Databricks / Hadoop etc.
- Strong understanding of Object-Oriented Programming, Design Patterns and System design fundamentals.
- Experience with Agile development methodologies (specifically scrum); SAFe knowledge/experience is desirable.
- Experience in troubleshooting, fine tuning and identifying the potential bottle necks on the applications.
- Exposure to Security and Compliance:
- Knowledge of security best practices in software development
- Strong commitment to data protection and privacy compliance
- Strong orientation towards Performance Optimization:
- Identifying performance bottlenecks in applications and databases and propose optimizations.
- Monitoring application and database performance regularly and take necessary actions to improve efficiency.

- Knowledge of insurance or any other financial domain is desirable.

- Hands on experience on SOAP or RESTful Webservices
- Certification in Java xx is preferred.
- Familiarity with Microservices, Event-Driven programming, Kubernetes
- Experience of SSO, LDAP, Reporting Tools (eg: Jasper Reports, PowerBI, Tableau)
- Knowledge of software architecture principles and best practices.
AI exposure and Skills:
- Handson experience with GitHub Copilot, Copilot CLI, Claude Code, or equivalent AI tools for code generation, refactoring, legacy modernization, test generation, documentation, and design scaffolding
- Practical exposure to agentic AI across the SDLC, including requirement interpretation from Jira stories, design exploration, automated test agents, release/validation agents, and quality gates
- RCA & Production Support: AI-assisted root cause analysis using logs, metrics, and stack traces; defect correlation across code, configuration, and data; fix and prevention recommendations with Human-in-the-Loop (HITL) validation
- Responsible AI: Adherence to data privacy, IP protection, hallucination avoidance, secure-by-design code, governance checkpoints, and compliance with business, regulatory, and architectural standards
- Guide team in adopting AI-assisted development practices.
SaaS exposure and Skills:
- Hands-on experience with Cloud Platforms such as: Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud
- Exposure to containerization (Docker, Kubernetes)
- Experience working with Event-driven systems (Apache Kafka) is desirable
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices; CI/CD tools: Jenkins / Git / Bitbucket
- Good understanding of multi-tenant SaaS architecture
- Understanding of modern architectural methods and patterns such as Microservice Architecture, Cloud Computing and Containers.
- Understanding of scalability, observability, and system reliability
- Understanding of Security & Identity protocols: OAuth2 / OIDC, SSO, RBAC, tenant isolation is desirable
