Position Summary:
Global Investment Manager Analysis (GIMA), a unit within the WM Investment Solutions, provides comprehensive manager research on a wide range of investment strategies, including separately managed accounts, mutual funds, UCITs, exchange-traded funds and private vehicles in the equity, fixed income and alternative investments spaces. The GIMA team engages with a broad array of investment managers to identify high quality strategies for portfolios.
We are seeking an experienced executive to lead GIMA in Mumbai, India. This individual will be responsible for leading, and managing the function, ensuring effective risk management practices, compliance, and adherence to internal policies and procedures.
Core functions:
- Partner with recruiting and GIMA to source, hire, and onboard talent; maintain appropriate staffing levels through hiring, reassignments, and capacity planning.
- Deliver consistent, high-quality service to internal clients within agreed SLAs; act as the primary escalation point for GIMA issues and drive timely resolution.
- Lead the build-out and ongoing management of the function, including team structure, training, and performance management.
- Establish and maintain policies, procedures, and operating guidelines aligned to applicable regulatory requirements and industry standards.
- Drive continuous improvement across systems, controls, and processes to increase throughput, strengthen quality, and enhance supervisory review.
- Develop team capability through structured training plans, coaching, and ongoing development; promote a high-performance, continuous-improvement culture.
Ongoing activities include:
- Provide day-to-day oversight of the GIMA Mumbai team and ensure timely delivery of ongoing due diligence.
- Ensure adherence to standards for due diligence workflows, written research notes, and report updates.
- Partner closely with GIMA onshore analysts and coordinate with internal stakeholders (Product Management, Sales, Legal, Compliance) as required.
- Foster a collaborative team environment that supports knowledge-sharing, learning, and cross-firm partnership.
- Train and mentor junior team members; support succession planning and bench strength.
- Stay current on WM Global Investment Office (GIO) market views, relevant regulatory developments, and broader trends impacting funds, managers, clients, and the alternatives industry.
Skills required:
- 15+ years’ experience in financial services.
- Strong understanding of Wealth Management products/services and global financial markets.
- Proven people leadership with the ability to drive change, accountability, and operational excellence.
- Demonstrated experience leading high-performing teams in a global, cross-functional environment.
- Strong analytical and critical reasoning skills; sound judgment and attention to detail.
- Effective stakeholder management and collaboration skills, including with senior leaders.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
