Job Description
The Database Administrator - I (DBA- I) is responsible for administering, monitoring, and supporting enterprise Microsoft SQL Server environments across production and non‑production systems. This role focuses on operational stability, performance, security, and availability of databases supporting business‑critical applications.
A DBA I works independently on standard DBA activities, participates in production incidents and change management, and collaborates closely with application, infrastructure, and security teams to ensure database services meet availability, compliance, and performance expectation
You will be a Database Administrator- I within the OPS-GLOBAL OPS CENTER team.

You will administer and support Microsoft SQL Server instances across development, staging, and production environments

You will provide 24×7 on‑call production support as part of a rotating DBA schedule

You will troubleshoot and resolve database issues including performance degradation, blocking, deadlocks, connectivity issues, and failed jobs
-
You will maintain and monitor standard SQL maintenance jobs (integrity checks, index maintenance, statistics updates)
-
You will manage database access using role‑based access control and Active Directory groups
-
You will enforce least‑privilege access and review elevated permissions
-
You will support security audits, vulnerability remediation, and asset compliance requirements
-
You will assist in implementing & password rotation processes
-
You will monitor database health using enterprise monitoring tools (e.g., SCOM, SolarWinds DPA)

You will analyze space issues, Data & Log file full issues, tempdb usage, and resource consumption
-
You will proactively identify and remediate performance bottlenecks
-
You will support SQL Server patching activities under approved maintenance windows
-
You will perform controlled changes to meet operational and security requirements
-
You will work closely with application, infrastructure, and storage teams during incidents and changes

You will maintain accurate documentation for configurations, procedures, and incidents

You will escalate complex issues appropriately and support root cause analysis efforts
Is this opportunity right for you? We are looking for candidates who have:

A bachelor’s degree in computer science, Computer Information Systems or a related discipline.

2–5 years of experience in database administration or production support roles Strong experience with Microsoft SQL Server (2016/2019/2022) administration.

Hands-on knowledge of Always on AGs, backups, restores, SQL replication, performance tuning, and troubleshooting.

Experience with production support, patching cycles, CRQ-driven changes, and on-call rotations.

Experience with SQL Server Agent jobs, alerts, and monitoring tools

Familiarity with monitoring tools, SSMS, and SQL alerting frameworks.

Solid understanding of:

Backup & recovery strategies

Monitoring and support ad hoc production issues

Transactions, locking, and blocking
-
High availability and disaster recovery concepts
-
Understanding of ITIL processes, incident/change management, and audit-driven environments.
