Job Summary:
We are seeking a Technical Assistant for the Textile Technology Department to support laboratory operations, practical sessions, and textile processing activities. The candidate will assist faculty members in conducting laboratory classes, guide students in handling textile machinery and equipment, and ensure smooth functioning of laboratory and workshop activities. The role requires sound technical knowledge in textile manufacturing processes, machinery handling, maintenance activities, and laboratory safety procedures.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist faculty members in conducting practical classes and laboratory sessions for Textile Technology students.
- Prepare textile machinery, laboratory equipment, tools, materials, and instruments before practical sessions.
- Support students in operating textile machinery and performing spinning, weaving, knitting, dyeing, garment construction, textile testing, and processing activities safely and effectively.
- Demonstrate the operation and handling of textile machinery, laboratory instruments, and processing equipment.
- Ensure proper maintenance, servicing, calibration, and safe operation of laboratory machines and equipment.
- Maintain records of laboratory inventory, consumables, equipment usage, and maintenance schedules.
- Monitor laboratory activities and ensure adherence to safety procedures and laboratory discipline.
- Support project work, workshops, exhibitions, and practical examinations conducted by the department.
- Maintain cleanliness, organization, and safety within laboratory and workshop premises.
- Coordinate with faculty members and department staff for the smooth functioning of laboratory activities.
Desired Candidate Qualification
- ITI in Mechanical / Electrical / Textile / Fitter or Diploma in Textile Technology / Textile Processing / Garment Technology – mandatory.
- 2–5 years of experience in textile laboratories, workshops, or textile manufacturing environments.
- Strong knowledge of textile machinery, textile processing methods, and workshop practices.
- Ability to handle textile equipment and laboratory instruments effectively.
- Basic understanding of machine maintenance, troubleshooting, and safety procedures.
- Good knowledge of textile testing and garment-related activities.
- Basic computer knowledge and documentation skills.
- Good communication and coordination skills.
- Ability to assist students during practical and project activities effectively.
- Experience in educational institutions/polytechnic/engineering colleges is preferred.
