Senior BigCommerce Web Developer
About the Role
We are looking to hire a Senior BigCommerce Web Developer to design, develop, customize, and maintain high-performing BigCommerce stores. The ideal candidate should have strong hands-on experience with BigCommerce development, custom theme development, API integrations, performance optimization, and eCommerce best practices.
You will work closely with designers, project managers, marketing teams, and backend developers to deliver scalable, user-friendly, and conversion-focused eCommerce solutions.
Key Responsibilities
Develop, customize, and maintain BigCommerce websites and storefronts.
Build and modify BigCommerce themes using Stencil, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and Handlebars.
Implement custom features, extensions, and third-party integrations.
Work with BigCommerce APIs, webhooks, and payment/shipping/tax integrations.
Optimize website performance, speed, responsiveness, and SEO structure.
Troubleshoot technical issues and provide ongoing support.
Ensure cross-browser and mobile compatibility.
Collaborate with UI/UX designers to convert designs into functional storefronts.
Maintain clean, scalable, and well-documented code.
Follow eCommerce best practices for checkout, product pages, catalog structure, and user experience.
Support migrations from other platforms to BigCommerce when required.
Required Skills and Experience
5+ years of professional web development experience.
3+ years of hands-on experience with BigCommerce.
Strong experience with BigCommerce Stencil framework.
Proficiency in HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, jQuery, Handlebars, and responsive development.
Experience with BigCommerce APIs, REST APIs, and third-party app integrations.
Strong understanding of eCommerce workflows, including cart, checkout, product catalog, promotions, and order management.
Experience with Git/version control.
Ability to debug, troubleshoot, and optimize website performance.
Good understanding of SEO, Core Web Vitals, and accessibility standards.
Strong communication skills and ability to work independently.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with BigCommerce headless commerce.
Knowledge of React, Next.js, or Vue.js.
Experience with ERP, CRM, POS, PIM, or marketplace integrations.
Experience migrating stores from Shopify, Magento, WooCommerce, or custom platforms to BigCommerce.
Familiarity with payment gateways, shipping providers, tax tools, and analytics platforms.
BigCommerce certification is a plus.
Nice to Have
Experience with B2B BigCommerce features.
Experience with multi-storefront setup.
Knowledge of CI/CD workflows.
Experience with UX conversion optimization and A/B testing.
