Full job description

Position Overview

We are seeking a passionate, knowledgeable, and dynamic Post Graduate Teacher (PGT) in Social Science to teach students of the Senior Secondary Section (Grades XI–XII). The ideal candidate should possess strong subject expertise in History, Geography, Political Science, or Economics, and the ability to make social sciences engaging, analytical, and relevant to contemporary global and national contexts. The teacher should inspire intellectual curiosity, critical thinking, and informed citizenship among students.

Key Responsibilities

Teaching & Academic Responsibilities

Teach Social Science subjects (History / Geography / Political Science / Economics) to students of Grades XI–XII in accordance with CBSE/ICSE curriculum guidelines.
Develop concept-driven and analytical lesson plans aligned with senior secondary curriculum objectives.
Encourage research-oriented learning, discussions, debates, and analytical writing.
Foster critical thinking, interpretation of historical events, and understanding of socio-economic and political systems.
Use case studies, maps, statistical data, research materials, and digital resources to enhance conceptual understanding.
Integrate current affairs and real-world perspectives into classroom discussions.

Student Development

Guide students in research projects, presentations, and academic assignments.
Prepare students for board examinations through structured revision strategies and practice assessments.
Encourage participation in debates, Model United Nations (MUN), quizzes, and social science exhibitions.
Support students in developing analytical writing and higher-order thinking skills.

Assessment & Evaluation

Conduct periodic assessments, assignments, projects, and mock examinations.
Evaluate answer scripts and provide constructive academic feedback.
Maintain accurate academic records and progress reports.

Collaboration & School Engagement

Communicate effectively with parents regarding academic progress and guidance for board examinations.
Participate in school events, academic seminars, exhibitions, and co-curricular programs.
Contribute to the academic planning and enrichment activities of the department.

Qualifications & Requirements

Educational Qualification

Postgraduate Degree (M.A./M.Sc.) in History / Geography / Political Science / Economics (mandatory)
B.Ed. (mandatory)
CTET qualification preferred (as per applicable norms)

Experience

3–5 years of teaching experience at senior secondary level preferred.
Highly capable candidates with strong subject expertise and academic aptitude may also be considered.

Skills & Attributes

Strong subject expertise and conceptual clarity in the chosen Social Science discipline.
Excellent communication, explanation, and presentation skills.
Ability to connect historical, political, and economic concepts with contemporary global events.
Familiarity with modern pedagogical practices and board examination preparation strategies.
Proficiency in using digital teaching tools, smart boards, and multimedia resources.
A motivating, approachable, and intellectually engaging personality that inspires senior students.
