Job Title: Algorithm Developer
Location: Bangalore (Software Development Team)
About AutoDefect: AutoDefect is an innovative AI-based automated optical inspection (AOI) platform transforming semiconductor part quality assessment. It shifts part inspection from subjective human visual checks to 100% quantitative, AI-driven metrology . The platform utilizes ultra-high-resolution cameras, telecentric lenses, collimated lighting, and proprietary image stacking to capture images with unmatched clarity and visualize deep physical features up to 10mm. Our AI-driven algorithms detect, classify, and measure defects down to a micron resolution , eliminating operator judgment and achieving over 95% accuracy. AutoDefect has significantly reduced inspection time by 88%-95% and costs by over 65%, driving substantial cost avoidance and ensuring zero quality escapes. It is integral to the TKM part recycling workflow and is deployed across multiple part families, global sites, and business units.
Role Summary: As a Senior Algorithm Developer (Computer Vision & AI) in our India software development team, you will be a technical leader and key contributor to the AutoDefect platform. You will drive the architecture, design, development, and deployment of advanced AI and computer vision solutions for high-precision industrial inspection .Your expertise will be crucial in tackling complex challenges, innovating new capabilities, and mentoring junior team members, playing a pivotal role in expanding AutoDefect's impact and capabilities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the architecture, design, and implementation of scalable computer vision and AI algorithms for defect detection, classification, and measurement, ensuring micron-level accuracy.
- Drive end-to-end development from proof-of-concept to production-ready systems, encompassing algorithm development, software integration, and deployment strategies.
- Innovate and integrate cutting-edge AI technologies , including deep learning frameworks (PyTorch, TensorFlow), synthetic data generation, 3D reconstruction, and Vision Language Models (VLM) for advanced.
- Design and optimize image processing techniques such as proprietary image stacking algorithms, ROI-driven processing, intelligent tiling strategies, and Flat Field Correction (FFC) to enhance image quality and algorithm efficiency.
- Collaborate with hardware teams to optimize image acquisition systems (cameras, telecentric lenses, collimated lighting, Z-sensors) and ensure seamless hardware-software integration for precision inspection.
- Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior engineers, fostering a culture of innovation and best practices within the team
- Contribute to strategic roadmap development for AutoDefect, identifying new part families (e.g., showerheads, susceptors, domes), defect types (e.g., burrs, clogs, cracks, pits, haze, rainbow), and technological advancements.
- Ensure the quality and reliability of solutions through rigorous testing, including Gage R&R, confusion matrix analysis, and KPI tracking.
Required Skills & Experience:
- 3+ years of experience in computer vision, machine learning, and AI, preferably in industrial automation or semiconductor manufacturing.
- Proven expertise in designing and deploying complex AI systems from conceptualization to full production, with a strong understanding of the software development lifecycle (e.g., PLC, PDCA).
- Deep knowledge of deep learning frameworks (e.g., PyTorch, TensorFlow) and expert proficiency in Python programming .
- Experience with optics, imaging principles, and image acquisition systems is highly desirable.
- Good understanding of control systems or robotics for integration with gantry or cobot-based inspection setups is a plus.
- Good to have skills on data acquisition, instrumentation, HMI.
- Strong problem-solving skills with a track record of tackling ambiguous and challenging technical problems.
- Good communication and collaboration skills for working with diverse global teams and stakeholders.
- Demonstrated ability to drive innovation , with patent filings or contributions to intellectual property being a significant advantage.
