Job Summary
The Health and Safety Assistant – Level II provides administrative and technical support for key Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) initiatives by coordinating data collection, maintaining records, supporting compliance activities, and assisting in the implementation of health and safety programs. The role supports the development of a strong safety culture by ensuring accurate reporting, training coordination, regulatory compliance, and employee engagement while contributing to continuous improvement in workplace safety and wellness.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the implementation and maintenance of site health and safety policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
- Maintain confidentiality and ensure compliance with corporate data protection, record retention, and documentation standards.
- Coordinate collection, verification, tracking, and reporting of health and safety metrics through enterprise HSE systems.
- Maintain occupational health and safety records, training databases, incident reports, and compliance documentation.
- Build and maintain site-specific health and safety training materials and support the delivery of training programs.
- Coordinate employee participation in health, safety, wellness, and engagement initiatives to promote a proactive safety culture.
- Participate in workplace inspections, audits, risk assessments, and safety reviews, supporting follow-up actions where required.
- Assist in identifying trends from safety performance data and prepare reports to support decision-making and continuous improvement.
- Support work-related injury and illness reporting processes and maintain associated records in compliance with company and regulatory requirements.
- Promote safety awareness by communicating health and safety information effectively across teams.
- Perform quality checks, maintain process documentation, and identify non-conforming materials or processes as required.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives related to safety, quality, employee development, and operational effectiveness.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment with HSE objectives and business requirements.
- Participate in ongoing training and development activities to enhance HSE knowledge and capabilities.
- Be willing to support operations across multiple shifts, including night shifts when required.

Qualifications
Required
- High School Diploma, Secondary Education Certificate, or equivalent experience.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
- Ability to maintain accurate records and work with HSE reporting systems.
- Willingness to work across all shifts, including night shifts when required.
Preferred
- College or University degree in Industrial Safety, Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, or a related discipline.
- Fire and Safety Diploma or equivalent safety certification.

Experience Required
- Some relevant work experience or intermediate-level knowledge obtained through education, training, internships, apprenticeships, or on-the-job experience in health, safety, environmental, manufacturing, or industrial operations.
- Experience supporting HSE programs, safety reporting, training administration, compliance activities, or employee wellness initiatives is preferred.
- Exposure to manufacturing, industrial, or shop-floor environments will be an advantage.
- Experience working with safety management systems, audits, inspections, incident management processes, or fire and emergency response programs is desirable.
