Job Title: Emergency Staff Nurse

Department: Emergency

Job Summary

The Emergency Staff Nurse is responsible for providing immediate, high-quality nursing care to patients presenting with acute illnesses or injuries in the Emergency Department. The role involves rapid assessment, triage, stabilization, and continuous monitoring of patients in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities1. Patient Care & Clinical Duties

Perform rapid triage and prioritize patients based on severity of condition.
Provide emergency nursing care to trauma, medical, surgical, pediatric, and cardiac patients.
Monitor vital signs and patient condition continuously.
Assist doctors during emergency procedures and resuscitation (CPR, intubation, defibrillation).
Administer medications, IV fluids, injections, and blood transfusions as prescribed.
Prepare patients for emergency diagnostic tests (ECG, X-ray, CT, lab tests).
Manage patients in shock, cardiac arrest, stroke, poisoning, burns, and polytrauma.
Maintain infection control and patient safety standards.

2. Emergency & Critical Procedures

Assist in trauma care and life-saving procedures.
Maintain crash cart and ensure emergency equipment readiness.
Handle ventilators, monitors, suction machines, and infusion pumps.
Participate in disaster management and mass casualty situations.

3. Documentation & Communication

Maintain accurate and timely patient records and nursing notes.
Communicate patient status effectively to doctors and relatives.
Ensure proper handover during shift changes.
Report incidents, medication errors, or adverse events.

4. Coordination & Teamwork

Work collaboratively with ER doctors, technicians, and support staff.
Coordinate patient admissions, transfers, and discharges.
Guide and supervise junior nurses and trainees when required.

5. Patient & Family Support

Provide emotional support and reassurance to patients and relatives.
Educate patients regarding treatment and follow-up care.

Required Qualifications

B.Sc Nursing / GNM from recognized institute.
Valid Nursing Registration.
BLS & ACLS certification preferred.

Experience

1–3 years experience in Emergency / ICU preferred.

Strong emergency and critical care skills
Ability to work under pressure and handle stressful situations
Quick decision-making and problem-solving
Excellent communication and teamwork
Knowledge of emergency equipment and protocols

Working Conditions

Rotational shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays.
