Experienced z System ISV Infrastructure Software Engineer.
Requirements
· SME-level knowledge of the installation/administration/support process starting with SMP/E and z/OSMF through the removal of software components.
· Demonstrated knowledge and fully proficient in the use of TSO and ISPF
· Demonstrated knowledge of z/OS, primary operations console operations and commands
· Demonstrated understanding of JCL and ability to create and modify JCL job streams
· Demonstrated understanding of z/OS dataset configurations and the ability to properly allocate various dataset configurations
· Demonstrated understanding of the catalog process
· Has responsibility and capability to work multi-platforms including z/OS, LINUX, and Windows
· Experience working with all types of z/OS file types and file systems Including PDS/PDSE and VSAM
· Practical understanding of SMPE and how to use it
· Experience with zFS including allocation and related Unix commands to manage the space
· Experience working with ITSM processes including Incidents, Change and related processes.
· Familiarity with Configuration Manager a plus
· Ability to work independently
· Interprets policies and applies experience
· Ability to work as a team player in both a partner role and mentor as appropriate
· Experience working with Vendors to create/manage support tickets including describing the issues, gathering, packaging and uploading documentation and follow up as needed

· 15+ years of mainframe systems software experience, with specific concentration in the area of Independent Software Vendor (ISV) z Platform system software installation, configuration, and administration, working in a large z Systems environment (90,000+ MIPs, Multiple LPARs, Multiple SysPlex):
o Multiple Parallel SysPlex configuration
o DB2Plex
o CICSPlex
o Multiple physical z Systems machines
o Multiple Production LPAR environment
o General Processors / zIIP Processors
· Ability to use AI tools to analyze data and provide recommendations and implement solutions.
· Ability to use M365 Copilot AI to recap meetings and draft emails
· Ability to stay educated in the role of AI for an IMS System Programmer.
- Proven ability to cover the 24x7 on-call rotation
· Available for the on-call frequencies based on team size
· Ability to work in an atmosphere with heightened pressure and visible to all levels of Leadership
· Ability to work effectively in an Incident ‘War Room” scenario partnering with other teams on the initial root cause determination
· Ability to follow all processes and procedures in this environment
Must have 10+ years-experience in the following capabilities:
· Configuring and using the SMP/E tool
· Creating, debugging, and modifying z/OSMF infrastructure Software install scripts (must have 2 years-experience for this)
· Download, install, configuration, and maintain/support (including software Key maintenance and vendor ticket creation/tracking) the following Z PLATFORM ISV products:
· BMC z Platform infrastructure products (including Compuware products)
· Broadcom/CA z Platform infrastructure products
· SAS Institute z Platform products
Must have 5+ years of experience downloading, installing, configurating, and maintain/ supporting (including software Key maintenance and vendor ticket creation/tracking) at least 50% of the following Z PLATFORM ISV products:

Key Duties/Responsibilities
· Install/Maintain/Configure/Support the ISV System Software and related environments used at Customer on the z Platform
· Experience automating process using zOSMF
· Experience recovering the environment in a Disaster Recovery environment
· Demonstrates knowledge in all areas of z System Software administration
· Designs and documents technical solutions required to support complex business system and/or integrations
· Generate documentation for use by Computer Operations as well as the Technical Help Desk
· z Systems Infrastructure/Platform lifecycle management (the lifecycle of ISV Software from planning, through operation, and disposal or end-of-life)
· Install and support latest releases of ISV software
· Experience applying all types of vendor ISV software fixes:
· High-impact pervasive (HIPER) PTF
· Pre-requisite fix
· Co-requisite fix
· Technical Refresh requisite fix
· Distribution requisite fix
· Cumulative PTF packages
· Service packs
· Authorized Program Analysis Report (APAR)
· Program Temporary Fix (PTF)
Proven ability to

· Be readily available when the team needs you, regardless of whether you are on-call or not
· Ability to work on weekends – the change window for all z Platform system changes are Sunday afternoons and evening (until 1:00 am on Monday)
· Ability to be on an on-call rotation being the primary contact 24x7 for a week at a time and backup for a week at a time
