Role Overview
The Deputy General Manager – Accounts & Finance will be responsible for leading and managing the organization’s end-to-end finance and accounting functions across all business verticals. The role involves financial planning, accounting operations, budgeting, forecasting, taxation, statutory compliance, audit management, financial reporting, investment analysis, risk assessment, and working capital management.
The incumbent will play a critical role in driving financial discipline, strengthening governance frameworks, optimizing financial performance, and supporting strategic business decisions through analytical insights and effective financial management practices.
Key Responsibilities
1. Financial Accounting & Closure
- Oversee end-to-end accounting operations across all business verticals.
- Ensure timely and accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial closures.
- Maintain proper accounting records, reconciliations, and ledger management.
- Ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards, financial policies, and internal controls.
2. Budgeting & Financial Planning
- Lead annual budgeting and long-term financial planning processes.
- Collaborate with business and department heads to prepare operational and strategic budgets.
- Monitor budget utilization and recommend corrective actions for deviations.
- Support leadership with financial planning aligned to organizational growth objectives.
3. Forecasting & Financial Performance Management
- Manage monthly and quarterly forecasting cycles.
- Conduct scenario analysis, financial projections, and performance forecasting.
- Analyze business performance trends and provide actionable recommendations.
- Ensure timely reporting of forecast deviations and financial risks.
4. Financial Reporting & MIS
- Prepare and review financial statements, MIS reports, dashboards, and management reports.
- Generate profitability analysis, expense analysis, and business performance reports.
- Present key financial insights and strategic recommendations to senior management.
- Ensure accuracy, consistency, and timeliness of all financial reporting activities.
5. Variance Analysis & Cost Optimization
- Conduct detailed variance analysis of budget vs forecast vs actual performance.
- Identify cost inefficiencies, operational gaps, and financial risks.
- Recommend cost optimization strategies and process improvement initiatives.
- Drive financial efficiency and profitability enhancement measures across verticals.
6. Taxation & Statutory Compliance
- Ensure compliance with GST, TDS, Income Tax, and other statutory requirements.
- Oversee timely filing of returns, statutory payments, and regulatory submissions.
- Coordinate with tax consultants and government authorities for assessments and notices.
- Monitor changes in financial and taxation regulations to ensure ongoing compliance.
7. Audit & Financial Controls
- Lead internal and external audit coordination activities.
- Strengthen internal financial controls, governance practices, and SOP implementation.
- Ensure audit readiness through proper documentation and compliance management.
- Identify process gaps and implement corrective and preventive control measures.
8. Cash Flow & Working Capital Management
- Monitor cash flow, liquidity position, and fund utilization across businesses.
- Manage banking operations, payment planning, and vendor financial schedules.
- Optimize working capital through effective receivable and payable management.
- Ensure efficient allocation and utilization of financial resources.
9. Financial Modelling & Investment Evaluation
- Develop financial models for business planning, strategic initiatives, and investment evaluation.
- Perform ROI analysis, sensitivity analysis, and cash flow forecasting.
- Support management in evaluating business expansion and investment opportunities.
- Provide analytical insights for strategic financial decision-making.
10. Risk Management & Financial Governance
- Conduct periodic financial and operational risk assessments.
- Identify potential financial risks and recommend mitigation strategies.
- Ensure adherence to financial governance frameworks and compliance standards.
- Support leadership with risk monitoring and financial control mechanisms.
11. Process Improvement & Automation
- Drive automation and process optimization initiatives within finance and accounts functions.
- Ensure effective utilization of ERP and financial management systems.
- Standardize financial reporting, accounting, and compliance processes.
- Improve operational efficiency and reporting accuracy through system enhancements.
12. Leadership & Stakeholder Management
- Lead, mentor, and develop the Accounts & Finance team.
- Collaborate with business heads, auditors, banks, consultants, and external stakeholders.
- Support senior leadership in strategic financial planning and business decision-making.
- Promote financial discipline, accountability, and governance across the organization.

Required Qualifications & Experience
- Chartered Accountant (CA) / MBA Finance.
- 15–20 years of relevant experience in Accounts & Finance functions.
- Strong expertise in accounting, taxation, audits, budgeting, compliance, and financial controls.
- Experience in financial planning, forecasting, MIS reporting, and working capital management.
- Knowledge of financial modelling, investment analysis, and risk assessment.
- Proficiency in ERP systems, accounting software, and advanced MS Excel.
- Strong analytical, leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to work in a dynamic, multi-business environment with strategic financial responsibilities.
