Job Summary
We are looking for a motivated and detail-oriented Mechanical Design Engineer Intern to join our R&D team in Kochi. In this role, you will work alongside senior engineers and cross-functional teams to design, develop, and refine mechanical components and assemblies for our robotics and automation products. Key Responsibilities
- Develop detailed 3D models, assemblies, and production-ready engineering drawings using SolidWorks and other CAD tools.
- Assist in the design and development of mechanical systems, sub-assemblies, and components for robotic platforms and automation equipment.
- Perform tolerance analysis, material selection, and design optimization for manufacturability, cost-effectiveness, and performance.
- Support prototyping activities including fabrication coordination, assembly, and hands-on testing of mechanical designs.
- Conduct engineering calculations and FEA/simulation studies to validate design concepts and ensure structural and functional integrity.
- Collaborate with electrical, electronics, and software engineering teams to ensure seamless integration of mechanical assemblies into complete systems.
- Prepare and maintain comprehensive design documentation including BOMs, specifications, ECNs, and assembly instructions.
- Coordinate with suppliers and manufacturing partners for component sourcing, custom fabrication, and quality validation.
- Participate actively in design reviews, offering constructive input and incorporating feedback to improve designs iteratively.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives in design workflows, standards, and best practices.
Essential Skills & Competencies
- Strong proficiency in SolidWorks (3D modelling, sheet metal, weldments, assemblies, and detailed drawings).
- Solid understanding of core mechanical engineering principles: statics, dynamics, strength of materials, and thermodynamics.
- Familiarity with common manufacturing processes such as CNC machining, sheet metal fabrication, injection moulding, and 3D printing.
- Ability to read and interpret GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing) per ASME Y14.5 standards.
- Good analytical and problem-solving skills with a systematic approach to design challenges.
- Effective communication and teamwork skills to work productively in a cross-functional, collaborative environment.
- Eagerness to learn, take ownership, and contribute to a fast-paced product development cycle.
Preferred Qualifications
- BE / B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering from a recognized university.

Pay: ₹3,000.00 - ₹5,000.00 per month
