About the Role – SDET (Software Development Engineer in Test)
The client is a fast‑growing fintech startup operating in a high‑velocity environment where ownership, precision, and engineering excellence are core expectations. They are looking for an SDET who thrives in high‑impact, fast‑paced environments and is passionate about embedding quality into every stage of the development lifecycle.
Role Overview
As an SDET, you will act as the bridge between development and quality engineering. You will bring strong expertise in test automation across backend and frontend services, ensuring the platform remains robust, scalable, and secure.
While automation will be your primary focus, you should also be comfortable performing deep‑dive manual exploratory testing to uncover critical edge cases, especially within complex lending and financial workflows.
Key Responsibilities
· Automation Engineering: Design, develop, and maintain comprehensive automation suites for backend APIs and frontend interfaces using tools like Playwright, Postman, or RestAssured.
· Lifecycle Ownership: Own the end-to-end testing lifecycle, ensuring high-quality features are shipped at startup speed.
· Fintech Rigor: Rigorously test fintech-specific compliance scenarios, including complex loan disbursal logic and multi-step transaction workflows.
· Strategic Strategy: Implement test strategies that balance execution speed with depth, ensuring maximum coverage during fast-moving sprints.
· Collaborative Quality: Partner closely with developers, product managers, and business teams to translate requirements into technical test coverage.
· Monitoring & Health: Track bugs, triage production issues, and regularly report on the health and metrics of the automation suite.
· Final Gatekeeping: Take full responsibility for providing the final QA sign-off before any deployment reaches UAT or production environments.
Technical Requirements
· Automation Expertise: 1+ year of hands-on experience in automation testing (Backend + Frontend).
· Tooling: Proficiency with Playwright, Postman, RestAssured, or similar API testing frameworks.
· Core Fundamentals: Strong understanding of REST APIs, JSON, HTTP concepts, and SQL for validating data integrity.
· Testing Practices: Working knowledge of manual testing practices, bug tracking, and maintaining detailed test documentation.
Workflow Integration: Familiarity with JIRA, Git, and CI/CD pipelines.
· Startup DNA: Ability to operate with minimal supervision in a high-ownership, quality-first engineering culture.
Nice-to-Haves
· Fintech Domain: Prior experience in lending or payments systems.
· Performance: Exposure to performance testing tools like JMeter or k6.
· Architecture: Experience testing complex systems with multi-tenant architecture.
· Compliance: Exposure to audit and regulatory requirements in financial applications.
Why You’ll Love Working Here
· You will solve meaningful problems that directly impact real-world customers.
· You will enjoy complete autonomy and trust in your work.
· You will lead release sign-off decisions across multiple environments (Staging, UAT, Production).
· You will be part of a mission-driven team dedicated to engineering excellence.
