Company: NestorBird Pvt Ltd
Location: On-site, Mohali
Reports to: CTO Team: Engineering (~15+ engineers across 3 product lines)
About NestorBird
NestorBird is a vertical SAAS platform company creating industry-specific operating systems for retail, manufacturing, healthcare, social impact, and go-to-market strategy.
Our products deploy globally via a growing partner alliance, helping businesses shift from fragmented workflows to unified, compliance-ready operations.
Why this role exists
The CTO needs a senior technical partner on the floor, someone who can take an initiative (architecture decision, AI feature rollout, framework upgrade, hiring bar, code-quality push) and drive it through the team without constant supervision. Equal parts hands-on engineer, mentor, and unblocker.
What you will own
- Drive engineering initiatives assigned by the CTO — break them into actionable plans, get buy-in from product leads, and ship to completion.
- Unblock developers daily — code reviews, design discussions, debugging tough issues, making the call when teams are stuck.
- Run internal trainings — Python depth, framework patterns (Django/Frappe), system design, code-review standards, AI tooling adoption (Claude Code, MCP, agentic workflows).
- Raise the engineering bar — define standards, review architectures, push for documentation discipline (we use Confluence heavily).
- Hands-on coding — 40–50% of your time. We expect you to write production code on critical paths, not just review it.
- Collaborate with leads — Engineering Lead, DevOps Lead, and product owners across all products.
Must-have
- 6+ years in software engineering, with 2+ years leading a team (formal or informal).
- Strong Python — you can design, debug, and refactor non-trivial Python systems without help. Comfortable with async, ORM internals, performance profiling, testing.
- Production experience with web frameworks — Django, FastAPI, or Flask in real systems serving real users.
- System design instincts — can reason about databases, caching, queues, API design, multi-tenancy.
- Mentorship track record — you have actually trained junior/mid engineers and can point to people who grew under you.
- Communication — clear written and verbal; can run a meeting, write a design doc, and disagree respectfully with the CTO when needed.
Big plus
- Frappe / ERPNext experience — we run several products on this stack.
- AI / LLM engineering — prompt engineering, RAG, MCP servers, agentic systems, or having shipped AI features in production.
- AWS — S3, CloudFront, EC2, RDS at production scale.
- Exposure to multi-product or platform engineering environments.
- Open-source contributions, technical writing, or community involvement.
What you will get
- Direct working relationship with the CTO/founder; visibility into product and business decisions across five SaaS lines.
- Real autonomy on technical direction — this is not a "manage tickets" role.
- Budget and mandate to introduce tooling, AI workflows, and engineering practices you believe in.
- Compensation commensurate with experience; equity discussion open for the right candidate.
