Position Description:
We are seeking a highly skilled Mainframe Integration Engineer with 5+ years of experience in Mainframe development, data integration, and enterprise messaging solutions. The ideal candidate will possess strong expertise in COBOL, PL/I, CICS, DB2, JCL, and messaging technologies, with experience supporting modernization and integration initiatives between Mainframe and cloud-based platforms. This role will focus on designing, developing, and supporting data movement, integration patterns, and coexistence strategies between legacy Mainframe applications and modern AWS-based services.
Your future duties and responsibilities
- Design, develop, enhance, and maintain Mainframe applications using COBOL, PL/I, and CICS.
- Develop, modify, and support DB2 database components, batch processing modules, and JCL jobs.
- Implement and support messaging solutions using IBM MQ or similar Mainframe messaging technologies to facilitate reliable data movement.
- Collaborate with application, infrastructure, and integration teams to ensure seamless communication between Mainframe and distributed systems.
- Build and support enterprise integration solutions using IBM App Connect Enterprise (ACE) and message flows for data transformation, routing, and orchestration.
- Assist in Mainframe modernization initiatives by integrating legacy systems with AWS services and REST-based APIs.
- Support implementation of Change Data Capture (CDC), asynchronous messaging, and event-driven integration patterns.
- Participate in system analysis, design reviews, performance tuning, troubleshooting, and production support activities.
- Ensure data consistency, reliability, and security during migration and coexistence phases between Mainframe and cloud environments.
- Create and maintain technical documentation, operational procedures, and support materials.
- Work closely with business stakeholders, architects, and development teams to deliver scalable integration solutions.
Required qualifications to be successful in this role
Must have:
- Strong hands-on experience in COBOL, PL/I, and CICS development and support.
- Extensive experience working with DB2 databases, Batch Processing, and JCL (Job Control Language).
- Proven expertise in IBM MQ or similar Mainframe messaging and queuing technologies for enterprise data movement and integration.
- Solid understanding of Mainframe application architecture, system design principles, and integration patterns.
- Experience in production support, troubleshooting, debugging, root cause analysis, and performance optimization of Mainframe applications.
- Strong knowledge of Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) methodologies and experience working in Agile/Scrum environments.
Good to have:
- Experience with IBM App Connect Enterprise (ACE) and Enterprise Service Bus (ESB) solutions.
- Familiarity with AWS services such as:
AWS Lambda
API Gateway
Amazon SQS
Amazon SNS
- Understanding of REST APIs and cloud integration concepts.
- Exposure to Event-Driven Architecture (EDA) and Publish/Subscribe messaging models.
- Experience implementing or supporting Change Data Capture (CDC) solutions.
- Knowledge of hybrid architecture patterns involving Mainframe and cloud platforms.
- Experience with data migration, modernization, and digital transformation programs.
- Familiarity with DevOps, CI/CD pipelines, and automated deployment practices.
