We are seeking a highly skilled UGV Systems Engineer to drive the development, integration, and field deployment of our autonomous unmanned ground vehicles. In this role, you will bridge the gap between mechanical design, electronics, and autonomous software. You will ensure our robotic platforms are rugged, reliable, and capable of operating in complex, real-world environments.
The position is onsite and requires hands-on involvement from prototyping through field testing.
Key Responsibilities
- System Design: Architect, design, build and integrate mechanical structures, drivetrains, power distribution networks, and communication protocols for UGVs.
- Sensor Integration: Select, mount, calibrate, and test critical perception sensors, including LiDAR, cameras, RADAR, GNSS/IMU, and sonar.
- Field Testing: Lead and execute rigorous field testing protocols to validate vehicle performance, edge-case handling, and environmental resilience.
- Diagnostics & Debugging: Troubleshooting complex system-level failures across hardware, embedded firmware, and software layers.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner closely with software engineers, control specialists, and product managers to successfully deploy autonomy algorithms.
- Documentation: Create detailed system schematics, wiring diagrams, testing logs, and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
Required Qualifications & Skills
- Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechatronics, Robotics, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience: 1-3 years of hands-on experience working with unmanned ground vehicles, mobile robots, or autonomous vehicle platforms.
- Software Tools: Proficiency in Robot Operating System (ROS/ROS2) and solid programming skills in C++ or Python.
- Hardware Tools: Extensive experience with CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, Autodesk) and electrical schematic design tools.
- Hands-on Skills: Strong practical skills in soldering, wiring, electronic diagnostic tools (oscilloscopes, multimeters), and mechanical fabrication.
- Communication: Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to articulate technical challenges clearly to diverse teams.
Preferred/Bonus Qualifications
- Experience with military standards (e.g., MIL-STD) or defense robotics protocols.
- Knowledge of simulation environments like Gazebo, Webots, or Isaac Sim.
- Experience with autonomous navigation algorithms, SLAM, or path planning.
