Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities

The Lead Civil and Structural Engineer is a highly skilled professional responsible for handling the design, development, and management of complex civil and structural engineering projects. This role involves applying advanced engineering principles to solve intricate problems, ensuring projects meet regulatory standards, and providing right solutions on time.
Individually handle the creation and review of detailed engineering designs and plans for large-scale industrial projects (e.g., 400kV & 220kV Switchyards, GIS and Main control buildings, Conversion sub stations, Solar & BESS (Battery Energy Storage) projects etc.).
Facilitates the design, construction and maintenance of the physical and naturally built environment, including work such as soil mechanics, seismic analysis, and foundations for GE supplied equipment.
Specifies with a built to function the design and the requirements for all underground and above ground civil works and specifies the civil contractor for the same (leveling, foundations, slabs, etc.). Also to include CW cost estimating, constructability assessments and sequencing, understanding of local civil codes and standards, and the application of structural steel, civil, and geotechnical engineering principles.
Conducts analysis and design of industrial structures that support or resist static and dynamic loads. Structural engineering typically includes design and analysis of structures composed of materials such as Structural Steel, Reinforced Concrete, Prestressed Concrete, Wood Framing and Masonry to account for code required loads and load combinations to ensure adequacy of the structure against failure.
Utilize advanced computer-aided design (CAD) software and structural analysis tools to produce precise and scalable designs.
Oversee the progress of multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring they are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
Ensure all designs and projects comply with local, state, and federal regulations and safety standards.
Conduct thorough site visits to assess project conditions, ensure adherence to design specifications, and address any issues that arise.
Evaluate environmental factors and their potential effects on project outcomes, incorporating innovative solutions where appropriate.
Prepare comprehensive reports, specifications, and presentations for project reviews, client meetings, and regulatory submissions.
Maintain meticulous records of project progress, changes, and communications.
Work closely with architects, urban planners, contractors, and other stakeholders to integrate civil and structural engineering aspects into broader project plans.
Communicate effectively with clients to understand their needs, provide technical guidance, and ensure client satisfaction.

Required Qualification & Experience

Bachelor or Master degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or related field; Master degree is preferred.
10+ years of experience in structural and civil engineering, with a proven track record of successful project delivery.
Familiarity with local and national, international building codes, regulations, and industry standards.
CAD Software: Proficiency in advanced CAD tools such as AutoCAD, Revit, and MicroStation.
Structural Analysis Tools: Experience with structural analysis and design software like STAAD.Pro, SAP2000, or ETABS.
BIM Software: Knowledge of Building Information Modelling (BIM) tools for integrated project delivery.
3D Modelling and Simulation: Skills in 3D modelling software for visualizing and simulating structural behaviours.
Ability to adapt and multitask with project / application engineers
Analytical and innovative approach in problem solving
Proficiency in MS Office applications
PLM, Primavera experience are added advantage
