JD, it is evident that the role is primarily focused on Microsoft SQL Server Database Administration (DBA) responsibilities rather than data engineering or analytics-specific activities. The key aspects of the JD include:
Extensive experience in MSSQL database administration, including high availability setups such as Always On Availability Groups, failover clustering, and log shipping
Strong focus on database performance tuning, indexing strategies, and query optimisation
Hands-on experience with backup/recovery, disaster recovery planning, patching, and vulnerability remediation
Responsibility for incident management (P1/P2), production support, and system monitoring
Exposure to Azure SQL platforms mainly from a migration and infrastructure management perspective
Emphasis on automation (PowerShell/Python) and operational efficiency
Additionally, the primary responsibilities outlined in the JD revolve around:
Managing and supporting database environments to ensure availability, performance, and security
Handling database lifecycle activities such as upgrades, patching, and restoration
Driving operational monitoring, incident resolution, and system stability
Supporting cloud migration initiatives from an infrastructure/DBA standpoint
