Job Description
The Web Developer is responsible for architecting, building, and optimizing Assent’s enterprise marketing website ecosystem, supporting the next generation of AI-enabled, revenue generation. This role leads advanced WordPress development initiatives while implementing workflows and agentic optimizations that improve speed, experimentation velocity, and performance at scale.
As a key member of the Marketing organization, this role works closely with Digital Strategy, SEO, UX/UI, Brand, and Demand Generation teams to translate high-fidelity designs into modular, scalable, and high-performance digital experiences. The Web Developer will embed AI-driven systems into production, testing, personalization, and performance monitoring.
This is a strategic technical role for someone who understands that our website is a revenue engine, not just a publishing platform, and that the next evolution of web performance will be powered by intelligent systems, not manual iteration.
What You’ll Do
Own Enterprise Web Architecture & Development
Lead development of enterprise-level WordPress implementations, including custom themes and plugins (no page builders).
Architect scalable, modular WordPress systems aligned with a broader design system.
Translate complex Figma designs into pixel-perfect, reusable, and performant WordPress templates.
Build component-based frameworks using ACF Pro, flexible content structures, and custom post types.
Manage multilingual site architecture (WPML or similar), ensuring seamless global experiences.
Maintain structured development workflows across local, staging, UAT, and production environments.
Enforce Git-based repository standards and CI/CD best practices.
Drive Performance, SEO/AEO, & Technical Excellence
Implement and maintain advanced technical SEO & AEO best practices, including schema, structured data, crawlability, and Core Web Vitals optimization.
Optimize performance through caching strategies, CDN implementation, and global speed enhancements.
Ensure WordPress security best practices are implemented and maintained.
Monitor site health, proactively identify technical issues, and propose scalable improvements.
Maintain clean, documented, maintainable code standards to support long-term growth.
Lead AI-Driven Development & Agentic Optimization
Design and implement AI-assisted web development workflows to improve velocity, code quality, and documentation standards.
Implement AI-powered experimentation frameworks capable of multivariate testing and dynamic content variation.
Develop systems that enable real-time personalization based on behavioral, firmographic, or contextual signals.
Architect feedback loops where performance data informs automated iteration and optimization.
Evaluate and integrate LLM-powered site capabilities, such as semantic search, AI-assisted navigation, or intelligent content surfacing.
Identify opportunities to reduce manual workflows through automation and intelligent tooling.
Support Headless & Front-End Innovation
Contribute to or lead headless WordPress implementations using REST APIs and/or GraphQL.
Develop and integrate front-end components using React.js.
Collaborate closely with UX/UI teams to ensure accurate implementation of design intent.
Support experimentation frameworks for AI and agentic-enabled personalization, testing, and rapid iteration.
Qualifications
What You’ll Bring (Required)
5+ years of experience in WordPress development in enterprise environments.
Experience coordinating larger projects with agencies.
Proven experience converting Figma files into fully functional WordPress themes and templates.
Strong understanding of design systems and component-based architecture.
Deep understanding and experience with:
Custom theme development (no page builders)
ACF Pro (Flexible Content, complex field structures)
Custom post types and taxonomies
Multilingual site implementation (WPML or similar)
Advanced technical SEO & AEO implementation
Strong front-end expertise (HTML5, SCSS/CSS, modern JavaScript)
Experience with React.js
Experience with headless architecture
AI-enabled web development workflows, optimizations, and experimentation.
Strong understanding of REST APIs and/or GraphQL.
Advanced Git workflow experience (branching strategies, PR reviews, deployments).
Experience managing multiple dev environments.
Performance optimization expertise (Core Web Vitals, caching, CDN strategies).
WordPress security best practices.
Strong collaboration with greater go-to-market organizations.
What You’ll Bring (Preferred)
Experience with enterprise hosting platforms (WP Engine, Pantheon, etc.)
Familiarity with personalization and A/B testing platforms
Experience integrating marketing automation tools (HubSpot, Marketo, etc.)
Knowledge of accessibility standards (WCAG)
Experience mentoring junior developers
