This role entrusted with leading and contributing to the core area of the instruction design of Foundational Literacy at Room to Read. This position will be based at the Country Office in New Delhi and report directly to the Manager of Instruction Design and Technical Support (IDTS). It will require frequent travel to field offices and regular interaction with education officials, partners, school administrators, teachers, and students. About Instruction Design and Technical Support Team (IDTS): the team enables Room to Read's state units to enhance program implementation by improving the adoption of structured pedagogy resources, teacher and team professional development, and evidence-informed assessment in instruction. The team is in charge of content creation amidst a lot of academic rigor and field experiences. This team supports other teams by providing technical inputs at various levels including internal and external stakeholders.
Develop a thorough understanding of Room to Read Literacy program design.
Provide technical support to the state in System Strengthening and knowledge transfer.
Update oneself regarding new programs/interventions of the like-minded organizations in states.
Contribute in policy (NEP/NIPUN/NCF) level strategic discussion with State Officials and State team and represent organization and approaches.
Provide technical support and assistance to the state team in system strengthening, effectively conceptualizing and executing various programs/Interventions.
Analyzing TLM (teacher Learning Material), tools, processes or procedures of states FLN program to identify gaps.
Contribute in the preparation of conceptual notes, logical framework/results framework, operation manuals/guidance and related tool kits in local language.
Support in developing detail implementation plans for program interventions, and support state in negotiation of such plans with the respective state governments.
Support in designing and roll‑outing intervention/s across designated state/states. Develop and maintain detailed work plans, regularly review progress-tracking dashboards and provide technical inputs/plan/materials, as and when needed, to keep the intervention on track, in coordination with state-level team.
Support in developing state strategy/framework for teacher capacity building, monitoring, and assessment systems based on the revised design. Attend training and review meetings for Teachers/MTs or other government officials, and Field team.
Support in building capacities of SRG, DRG and core groups at different level around FLN vision and approaches.
Support state team/govt stakeholders in developing training plan, training content, trainer manuals and participant handbooks for all the various types of trainings planned for the state level stakeholders/officials, teachers and head teachers. Be part of training workshops.
Develop/refine state team capacity building on policy level, pedagogical level and teacher training facilitation skill with the Facilitator Guides.
Regularly participate in coordination meetings with government counterparts, implementing partners, and internal teams to stay aligned on objectives, timelines, and deliverables, to ensure the project/intervention is on track in the state.
Keep track of progress towards the agreed outcomes of the program. Plan visits to the field to track project progress on regular basis.
Analyse data from reading assessments, classroom monitoring data and/or library rating indicators to determine trends, if any and identify areas that need more focused attention. Review and revise program design, materials and training content accordingly.
Focus on SLOs/reading habit, culture of reading and setting interim targets to monitor progress toward the year-end goals of improved reading fluency and comprehension
Support in research, survey/study, assessments or evaluations of programs/projects
Contribute in the co-creation of foundational literacy/program aligned resources with State Education department and or other government departments.
Determine topics for research and further analysis, both at the local/field level as well as at the country level.
Regularly communicate with Operations/RM&E/Administration/ Finance/ HR teams at the CO and State levels to ensure smooth implementation of program activities. Escalate any concern in timely manner.
Communicate with Global Office and other external stakeholders as needed.
Contribute to preparation of various project reports, budget reviews/management, forecasts and documentation of good practices.
Undertake team-level responsibilities like team management and their capacity building.
Support in planning and also participate in community mobilization events (e.g., FLN campaigns, Melas) and annual recognition ceremonies for high‑performing teachers/officials.
Undertake any other work assigned from time to time to meet the technical needs of the organization.
