Job Description (JD)

Position: Trained Graduate Teacher (TGT) – Computer Science / Computer Applications
Department: Middle & Secondary School (Classes VI–X)

Job Summary

A TGT Computer Science teacher is responsible for teaching basic and advanced computer concepts, programming fundamentals, and digital literacy to students of Classes VI–X as per CBSE/ICSE/State Board curriculum. The role focuses on building students’ computational thinking, coding skills, and responsible use of technology.

Key Responsibilities

Teach Computer Science/IT to Classes VI–X:
Basics of computers and IT
Operating systems and MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Internet and cyber safety
Programming basics (Scratch, Python, or C/C++ depending on syllabus)
Database and networking fundamentals (basic level)
Prepare lesson plans, practical exercises, worksheets, and assessments.
Conduct practical lab sessions and ensure proper use of computer lab equipment.
Guide students in coding, projects, and computer-based activities.
Evaluate assignments, practical files, tests, and projects.
Maintain computer lab systems, software updates, and inventory records.
Ensure cyber safety awareness and responsible digital behavior among students.
Use smart boards, coding platforms, and digital tools for teaching.
Provide remedial support and extra practice for students needing help.
Participate in PTMs, school events, IT workshops, and academic meetings.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science / IT / BCA / B.Sc. Computer Science or equivalent.
B.Ed. from a recognized university (mandatory in most schools).
Strong knowledge of programming languages and computer fundamentals.
CTET/TET (Paper II) preferred in some institutions.

Experience

Fresher or 1–5 years of teaching experience preferred.
Experience in school computer labs or coding instruction is an advantage.

Skills Required

Strong knowledge of computers and programming
Coding and problem-solving ability
Classroom and lab management skills
Communication and student mentoring skills
Knowledge of software tools (MS Office, programming IDEs)
Ability to simplify technical concepts for students

Salary Range (India)

Depending on experience, institution, and qualifications

Additional Responsibilities

Train students for coding competitions, Olympiads, and tech fairs.
Promote digital literacy and cyber awareness programs.
Maintain safe and efficient computer lab usage.
Stay updated with emerging technologies and curriculum changes.
