Position: Lab Technician – Physical and Colour LaboratoryJob Summary
The Lab Technician will be responsible for conducting physical and colour testing of textile materials, maintaining laboratory equipment, recording test results accurately, and supporting the quality assurance function to ensure that products meet customer specifications and international standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform physical and colour testing of textile materials in accordance with established test methods and customer requirements.
- Conduct laboratory evaluations including colour matching, shade assessment, colour fastness testing, and physical performance testing.
- Prepare laboratory samples, chemicals, dyes, and testing materials as per standard operating procedures.
- Operate and maintain laboratory instruments and testing equipment efficiently.
- Record, analyse, and report test results accurately and in a timely manner.
- Assist in developing and approving colour standards and laboratory dyeing procedures.
- Monitor quality parameters and identify deviations from specifications.
- Ensure calibration and routine maintenance of laboratory equipment as per the prescribed schedule.
- Maintain laboratory records, reports, and documentation in compliance with company quality systems.
- Adhere to laboratory safety practices and ensure proper handling and disposal of chemicals.
- Coordinate with production, quality assurance, and technical teams to resolve quality-related issues.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing laboratory efficiency and testing accuracy.
- Support internal and external audits related to laboratory operations.
Qualifications
Candidates with any of the following educational qualifications are eligible to apply:
- B.Sc. – Chemistry / Physics / Microbiology / Biochemistry
- M.Sc. – Chemistry / Physics / Microbiology / Biochemistry
Experience
- Freshers are encouraged to apply.
- Candidates with 1–2 years of experience in textile laboratories, quality control, or related manufacturing environments will be preferred.
Required Skills
- Basic knowledge of laboratory practices and testing procedures.
- Strong observation and analytical skills.
- Attention to detail with a commitment to accuracy.
- Ability to maintain laboratory records and reports systematically.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Willingness to work in a manufacturing environment and rotational shifts, if required.
- Basic computer knowledge, including proficiency in MS Office applications.
