UltraTech Cement Ltd. of Aditya Birla Group is the largest manufacturer of Grey cement, Ready Mix Concrete (RMC) and White cement in India. The company has 22 integrated plants, 1 clinkerisation plant, 27 grinding units and 8 bulk terminals along with 95 MW of Waste Heat Recovery system and 155 MW Captive Power Plants.
With a vision of increasing the cement capacity from 58.8 MTPA to 150 MTPA by 2030 The capacity addition is planned through Brown field /Green field Projects with a clear focus on optimising project cost & time. Design & Drawing Devision is playing a vital role for achieving this objective.
Our Previous company known as Bhagwati Associates Pvt. Ltd was working with ABG group from last 4 decades for Designing of Cement Plant, Power Plant, WHRS Plant, Pulp Fible Plant & Non Plant Structure. We have Experienced Staff (Designers & Draftsmen) mainly in Cement Plants & having Many existing Project Data of cement Plants. Designing for any Structure not only requires familiarity with some of the common Indian codes and standards encountered in Structure design, but also working knowledge of the Mechanical Equipments & Electrical Requirements, that governs the design of Structure. Therefore, Ultratech has taken over Bhagwati associates Pvt. Ltd & established Design & Drawing Division (D&D) in year 2015 & Decided to work under Project Cell which was formed in year 2010.
This Position is part of the Design & Drawing Division.
We perform our Job like Civil-Structural Engineering Design Consultancy, collecting Input Data from Project Cell, Plant and vendor which is used to perform Prepare Analysis, Design & Drawing for Plant Structure. In case of any Structural Problem/Failure occurring at the Plant Site visit the Plant and Give immediate Remedial measure which are site specific. This ultimately leads to Minimizing the Production loss of the industry on the whole and any further damage to the Plant.
Major Challenges :
- Our Major Plants are very Old in age, Processes/technology & Equipments. To Support New Equipments & Processes in Existing Equipment Foundation & Structure without Existing Mechanical General Drawings & Civil Drawings. We have to ask for field measurements and/or non-destructive testing to determine existing conditions. In Some cases, load testing may be requires to determine sufficient strength capacity of existing Structure and We perform Analysis & Design based on these values to give Feasible, Economical & Safer strengthening Solutions with respect to the working condition of the running Plant.
- To Release Design & drawings of Plant Structures & Equipment Foundation to Project Cell as per schedule ensuring no delay in execution for non-availability of approved drawings.
- Persuasion, intense follow up, rigorous chasing, tremendous patience is a per requisite for obtaining data, inputs, documents in time especially when time is most significant in project completion.

1. Analysis, Design & Execution Difficulty– Civil and Structure Design – Cement mill building and raw mill building

b. Accuracy of Analysis Design Calculation with zero error with in assigned time period, observed by superior during review.
c. Accuracy in revised work due to change in G.A. with zero error observed by superior during review.
d. Accuracy in new & revised drawings with zero error observed by superior during review.
e. Familiar with Indian codes for Civil Design and knowledge for different Specification.
f. familiar with Equipment Loading & it’s operation
Analysis & Design of RCC & STEEL Frame.
Planning the location of Structural elements & Type of Structural frame, preparation of prelim layouts with zero fouling condition with equipment & serving utilities.
Checking the Analysis and Designs of Other Vendors as per Indian Standard Codal Procedure.
Acumen to computers and computer-aided design technology (Staad Pro Software) for simulation/Analysis purposes & manual Calculation with the accordance of resepted IS codes.
Analyse configurations of the basic structural components of a building or other structure; Calculate the pressure, stresses and strains that each component, such as beam or lintel, will experience from other parts of the structure due to Process Equipments, human use and environmental pressures such as weather, wind or earthquakes;
After Priliminary study & analysis of structure, we workout and suggest no. of alternatives w.r.t cost Optimization, Time & feasibility at site.
Executing designs as per instructions in the IS Codes, Departmnetal codes, manuals, technical circulars etc in force from time to time
Evalution of sizes of foundations, Columns,Beams along with reinforcement.

1. Drawings Checking /Execution as per QA procedure

2. Strucutral Stability Assesment (SSA)

a. Completeness in checking each unit building of plants with every constructed elements as per drawings.
b. Completeness report by including every critical issues notice at assessment.
Doing Site Visit & Visual Assesment of Structure by identify faulty work, modification done without conculting design Enginner or Damaged Structure
Prepare SSA Report based data collected from Site visit.
Suggesting further action to identify issue in depth of providing retrofitting detail to make it correct accordingly.
Solution for Construction Problems due to unability of execution as per Darawings, if any.
