Senior Business Analyst – Guidewire Platforms
Role Purpose
As a Senior Business Analyst (Guidewire), you are responsible for translating business needs into high‑quality, implementable functional requirements for Guidewire initiatives across one or more value streams or business units.
You act as a senior member within Agile teams, ensuring requirements are clear, testable, and aligned to Guidewire product capabilities, while adhering to Zurich standards and functional blueprints.
This role focuses on strong execution, functional depth, and delivery reliability, with growing ownership across run and change.
Key Responsibilities
1. Functional Analysis & Solution Definition

Analyse business requirements across Guidewire platforms:

PolicyCenter

BillingCenter
-
ClaimCenter
-
Translate business needs into:

Epics, features, and user stories
-
Clear acceptance criteria and functional rules
-
Prefer out‑of‑the‑box (OOTB) Guidewire capabilities; highlight and justify configuration or customisation needs

Identify functional gaps, dependencies, and impacts across:

Underwriting
-
Claims
-
Billing
-
Finance and operations
2. Business Partnership & Requirements Shaping
Work closely with:

Product Owners
-
Business SMEs
-
Delivery leads
-
Clarify business objectives, scope, and priorities
-
Support impact analysis, assumptions, and trade‑offs
-
Contribute input to business cases and solution options
-
Ensure requirements align with agreed process models and product standards
3. Backlog Management & Quality Assurance

Own the quality and readiness of assigned backlog items:

User stories
-
Acceptance criteria
-
Non‑functional requirements
-
Ensure stories are:

Complete
-
Unambiguous

Testable
-
Ready for development
-
Maintain traceability from business needs to delivered functionality

Act as the functional point of contact for story clarification during sprints
4. Agile Delivery Support
Actively participate in:

Discovery and refinement workshops
-
Sprint planning and backlog grooming
-
Sprint reviews and demos
-
Collaborate closely with:
-
Developer
-
Quality Engineers
-
Integration and release teams
-
Support testing activities including:

Functional validation
-
Integration testing
-
UAT support
5. Run Support & Operational Ownership
-
Support L2/L3 production incidents from a functional perspective

Assist with:

Root‑cause analysis

Defect triage
-
Functional clarification for fixes
-
Ensure learnings from production issues are reflected back into requirements and design
-
Contribute to reduced defect leakage and improved production stability
6. Standards, Reuse & Continuous Improvement
-
Adhere to Zurich and CIP functional standards, patterns, and blueprints
-
Promote reuse of:

Functional designs
-
Business rules
-
Configuration patterns
-
Identify opportunities to improve requirement quality, clarity, and delivery efficiency

Contribute to documentation and knowledge assets
7. Collaboration & Capability Development

Act as a role model for:

Intermediate and Junior BSAs

New team members

Share best practices in:

Requirement writing

Functional modelling

Guidewire domain knowledge

Support onboarding, shadowing, and informal mentoring as required
Required Skills & Experience
7–10+ years of experience as a Business Analyst / Business Systems Analyst in enterprise environments-
Strong hands‑on experience with Guidewire Insurance Suite

Solid understanding of P&C insurance business processes
-
Proven experience working in Agile delivery teams
-
Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills
-
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
-
Ability to work effectively with both business and technical stakeholders
Desirable Experience

Experience working across multi‑BU or shared‑service delivery models

Exposure to Guidewire Cloud transformations
-
Experience supporting production issues or run activities
-
Familiarity with integration‑driven architectures
