Role Overview
The Engineering Quality Lead will own product quality across the entire software development lifecycle and will be responsible for reducing defects, preventing recurring issues, improving engineering behavior, and ensuring quality is built into every stage of development.
We are looking for someone who will act as the quality authority within Engineering, driving accountability, enforcing quality processes, and leveraging Claude Code extensively to analyze issues, identify root causes, review code, improve testing, and improve engineering outcomes.
What You'll Do
Claude Code & AI-Driven Quality Leadership
Use Claude Code daily to analyze Jira issues, incidents, support tickets, and production defects.
Use Claude Code to trace issues to root causes within the codebase.
Use Claude Code to identify recurring defect patterns and categorize root causes.
Use Claude Code to review code changes and identify opportunities to prevent future defects.
Use Claude Code to generate, review, and improve Playwright and other automated test suites.
Use Claude Code to identify missing edge cases and testing gaps.
Automation Testing Requirements
Strong hands-on experience designing, building, and maintaining automated test frameworks.
Demonstrated experience creating end-to-end, API, integration, regression, and performance test automation.
Extensive experience with Playwright and modern web automation frameworks.
Experience with Selenium, AccelQ, LoadRunner, JMeter, Cypress, or equivalent automation platforms.
Ability to review and evaluate the quality, coverage, and maintainability of automation test suites created by engineering teams.
Experience integrating automated testing into CI/CD pipelines.
Ability to define automation standards and enforce automation coverage requirements.
Engineering Quality Strategy and Standards
Analyze production incidents, customer-reported defects, and engineering issues to identify systemic root causes.
Build defect taxonomies and categorize issues by underlying causes.
Drive corrective and preventive actions across engineering teams.
Define and enforce release readiness criteria and quality gates.
Lead post-incident reviews and root cause analysis activities.
Verify that developers create and execute appropriate end-to-end, integration, API, and regression tests for every significant code change.
Audit test coverage, release quality, and engineering compliance with defined processes.
Define Pulsora's automation testing strategy and quality standards.
Establish quality gates requiring automated validation before production releases.
Drive measurable reductions in escaped defects and recurring defect categories.
Leadership Expectations
Demonstrated ability to influence and change engineering behavior.
Must be comfortable holding engineers accountable to defined quality processes and standards.
Must demonstrate authority and credibility to challenge teams when quality expectations are not met.
Hold engineers accountable for delivering automated tests alongside production code.
Drive organizational adoption of quality processes, automation standards, and AI-assisted engineering practices.
Willingness to make difficult recommendations, including delaying releases when quality risks are unacceptable.
Analyze production incidents and derive automated test cases that prevent recurrence.
Assess engineering risk before releases.
Build AI-powered quality dashboards and workflows.
What You'll Bring
6+ years of experience in software engineering, quality engineering, SDET, engineering excellence, or related technical leadership roles
Strong hands-on programming experience in Java and/or Python
Ability to read, review, debug, and analyze production code
Deep understanding of software architecture and engineering best practices
Strong experience with CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, release management, and incident analysis
Hands-on expertise using Claude Code, Cursor, Copilot, ChatGPT, or similar AI development tools
Strong analytical and data-driven decision-making skills
Willingness and ability to work core India business hours, plus collaborate with global teams
