Sapiens is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Performance Testing Engineer to join our growing team. This role focuses on the Reinsurance (RI) and Subledger Reinsurance Management (SRM) products, which are heavily oriented toward batch processing, large-scale data migration, and complex Oracle database workloads. Unlike other Sapiens products, RI/SRM performance work requires deep end-to-end ownership - from architecture review and environment setup through test design, execution, tuning, and root cause analysis - without relying on separate architecture or development teams for investigation and remediation.

What you’ll do:
Define and own the end-to-end performance testing strategy for RI/SRM batch processing, covering Billing Batch, Renewal Process, GL Export, RI Process Coordinator, Commission Statement Generation, and IDIT-SRM Integration batch jobs.
Design and develop batch performance test scenarios, including realistic data volumes, multi-batch-cycle simulations, and SIT environment cloning.
Prepare and manage performance test data: clone environments, create data exclusion/masking scripts, and ensure migrated data quality does not introduce false alarms.
Set up and maintain the performance test environment independently, including deployment of new builds and coordination of DB backups.
Execute online and batch performance test cycles, collect results, and produce structured comparison reports across builds.
Perform in-depth root cause analysis of batch performance degradations: analyze Oracle AWR/ASH reports, identify top SQL consumers, evaluate locking and I/O patterns.
Independently implement DB-level tuning: apply Oracle table and index compression, manage FK enable/disable cycles, and validate impact with before/after comparison reports.
Collaborate with RI/SRM architects and developers during fix validation cycles - confirming that code or DB fixes deliver expected performance improvements.
Define and track performance KPIs for batch completion windows; raise defects with clear reproduction steps and supporting data.
Generate and present detailed performance summary reports to management and key stakeholders after each test cycle.
Conduct architecture technical reviews for new RI/SRM features or customer implementations to identify performance risks early.
Support customer-facing performance campaigns: coordinate with Project Managers and customer teams on environment, data, and timeline requirements.
Mentor and guide junior performance engineers on batch testing methodology, Oracle tuning, and reporting best practices.
What to Have for this position:
Deep technical ownership mindset - able to investigate and resolve performance issues independently, without requiring escalation to architecture or development teams.
Strong Oracle database skills: able to read and act on AWR reports, analyze top SQL queries, manage indexes, disable/enable FK constraints, and apply table/index compression.
Proficient in data preparation for batch testing: masking scripts, data exclusion, SIT-to-performance environment cloning, volume scaling.
Excellent analytical and root cause analysis skills - able to trace batch slowness to specific SQL queries, locking contention, I/O saturation, or application-layer issues.
Capable of architecting the performance test strategy for batch-heavy systems: defining KPIs, thresholds, batch cycle windows, and concurrency models.
Strong scripting ability (SQL, Shell, Python, or Java) to automate test data setup and environment preparation.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English - able to produce executive-level performance reports and lead technical review sessions.
Highly organized and self-driven, with the ability to manage multiple concurrent batch test cycles across different project phases.
Proactive in identifying risks and proposing mitigation strategies before they impact delivery.
Quick learner - able to ramp up on Sapiens RI/SRM domain processes (Billing, RI Processing, GL Export, Renewals) independently.
Must have Skills:
BSc in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent.
5+ years’ experience as a Performance Engineer, with at least 2 years focused on batch/back-office processing systems.
5+ years’ experience with performance and load testing tools (e.g., Apache JMeter, Gatling, HP LoadRunner, or equivalent).
4+ years’ experience with Oracle database internals: query plans, AWR/ASH reports, indexing, Foreign Key management, and compression strategies.
Solid experience designing and executing batch performance tests, including data volume preparation and batch cycle simulation.
Proven hands-on experience with SQL/Oracle - writing complex queries, analyzing execution plans, and applying DB-level tuning (compression, FK management, index optimization).
Experience setting up and managing performance test environments, including environment cloning and migrated-data handling.
Experience with APM and monitoring tools (e.g., Dynatrace, OEM, or equivalent) for real-time bottleneck detection.
Advantage: familiarity with insurance back-office processes such as Billing, Reinsurance (RI), GL Export, Renewal, or Commission workflows.
