JOB DESCRIPTION: ORACLE EBS & CORE DATABASE ADMINISTRATOR (LEVEL 2)

POSITION SUMMARY
We are seeking an experienced and versatile Level 2 Oracle Applications and Core Database Administrator (DBA). In this role, you will support a diverse enterprise ecosystem running both Oracle E-Business Suite (R12.1 and R12.2) and standalone, non-EBS Oracle Databases ranging from versions 11g to 19c. A major focus of this position includes executing database upgrades to Oracle 19c and managing our R12.2 environment hosted on Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI). Additionally, you will be responsible for the core administration, configuration, and troubleshooting of WebLogic Server domains supporting both our ERP and standalone middleware layers. [1, 2]
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
EBS & Core Database Management
- Administer, monitor, and maintain dual Oracle EBS architectures (R12.1 and R12.2) alongside standalone, non-EBS Oracle Databases (11g through 19c). [1]
- Provide day-to-day operational support for database infrastructure, including tablespace management, user administration, security auditing, and health monitoring.
- Execute database clones, refreshes, and backups for both EBS integrated environments and standalone database instances.
Database Upgrades, Patching & Lifecycle Management
- Play a key operational role in planning and executing database upgrades from legacy 11g and 12c versions to Oracle 19c (Multitenant CDB/PDB architecture).
- Plan and apply application patches using traditional patching for R12.1 and the Online Patching (adop) cycle for R12.2.
- Apply quarterly database patches (RU/RUR/PSU/CPU) across all EBS and non-EBS databases using OPatch.
WebLogic Server Administration
- Configure, maintain, and troubleshoot Oracle WebLogic Server domains, clusters, managed servers, and Node Managers.
- Optimize WebLogic performance by tuning JVM parameters, heap sizes, and garbage collection settings.
- Manage and troubleshoot JDBC data sources, connection pools, and JMS modules for both EBS and standalone applications.
- Deploy, undeploy, and update application code, ears, and wars within WebLogic domains.
OCI Cloud Support & Operations
- Monitor, maintain, and troubleshoot our Oracle EBS R12.2 infrastructure hosted on Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI).
- Utilize cloud-native capabilities, including OCI Object Storage for backups, OCI Compute instances, Block Volumes, and cloud networking.
Performance Tuning & Availability
- Actively monitor system health across on-prem and OCI cloud environments using Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM) Cloud Control.
- Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks within databases using AWR, ADDM, ASH, and SQL Plan Baselines.
- Maintain automated backup schedules using Oracle Recovery Manager (RMAN) and validate disaster recovery procedures using Oracle Data Guard.
Collaboration & Support
- Provide Tier 2 technical support for infrastructure issues escalated by internal application developers, functional analysts, or business teams.
- Participate in a rotating 24/7 on-call schedule for critical production systems.
REQUIRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
Technical Skills
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent professional experience).
- EBS Experience: 3 to 5 years of hands-on experience supporting Oracle EBS R12.1 and R12.2 production environments.
- Core Database Experience: Solid command of Oracle Database 11g, 12c, and 19c administration outside of an EBS context.
- Upgrade Expertise: Direct exposure to, or strong foundational knowledge of, upgrading databases from 11g/12c to 19c.
- WebLogic Competency: Strong experience administering standalone Oracle WebLogic Server domains (installations, domain creation, datasource configuration, and JVM tuning).
- Cloud Knowledge: Experience managing or supporting Oracle infrastructure within Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI).
- Operating Systems: High proficiency with Linux/Unix command lines and shell scripting (Bash/Korn) for automation.
Soft Skills & Competencies
- Strong analytical, diagnostic, and systematic problem-solving capabilities under project deadlines.
- Clear verbal and written technical communication skills to collaborate with developers and business analysts alike.
- Ability to balance daily operational tickets with long-term project milestones like upgrades and migrations.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Oracle Certified Professional (OCP) in Oracle Database or Oracle WebLogic Server.
- Experience utilizing Oracle EBS Cloud Manager on OCI.
- Familiarity with Oracle Real Application Clusters (RAC) and Automatic Storage Management (ASM).
