Position Overview
Amity University Kolkata invites applications for the position of Assistant Professor in Law. The selected candidate will be responsible for teaching undergraduate and postgraduate law courses, conducting research, mentoring students, and contributing to the academic and institutional growth of the university.
The ideal candidate should possess strong legal knowledge, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to academic excellence and research.
Key Responsibilities
Teaching & Academic Delivery
- Deliver lectures, tutorials, seminars, moot court training, and mentoring sessions.
- Teach undergraduate and postgraduate courses in Law.
- Develop course materials, case studies, assignments, and assessment frameworks.
- Incorporate innovative teaching methodologies and technology-enabled learning tools.
- Evaluate student performance and provide academic guidance.

Research & Publications
- Conduct high-quality legal research in relevant areas.
- Publish research papers in reputed Scopus, Web of Science, ABDC, or UGC-CARE indexed journals.
- Present research work at national and international conferences, seminars, and workshops.
- Contribute to funded research projects, policy papers, and consultancy assignments.
- Encourage interdisciplinary legal research and academic collaborations.
Student Mentorship & Professional Development
- Guide students in research projects, dissertations, moot court competitions, and legal aid activities.
- Mentor students for internships, judicial services examinations, higher studies, and legal careers.
- Support student participation in conferences, debates, and legal competitions.
Institutional Responsibilities
- Participate in curriculum design and revision.
- Contribute to accreditation, ranking, and quality assurance initiatives.
- Support departmental administration and university committees.
- Participate in Faculty Development Programs (FDPs), workshops, seminars, and academic events.
Eligibility Criteria
Essential Qualifications
- Ph.D. in Law or a related legal discipline.
- Ph.D. or those who have submitted their thesis may also apply.
- LL.M. from a recognized university.
- Strong academic record throughout.
Preferred Qualifications
- NET qualification as applicable under UGC norms.
- Publications in reputed indexed journals.
- Experience in legal research, advocacy, corporate law practice, judicial services, or policy research.
- Exposure to Outcome-Based Education (OBE) and digital learning platforms.
Desired Skills
- Strong legal and analytical acumen.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and legal drafting skills.
- Research-oriented mindset with publication potential.
- Ability to mentor and guide students effectively.
- Knowledge of emerging legal and regulatory developments.
- Strong interpersonal and teamwork abilities.
- Experience in moot court coaching, legal aid clinics, or legal consultancy will be an added advantage.
Experience
- Fresh Ph.D. graduates and thesis-submitted candidates are encouraged to apply.
- Prior teaching, research, legal practice, corporate, or judicial experience will be preferred.
- Experience in higher education institutions will be an added advantage.
