Position Summary
The Assistant Manager – Loom Department will be responsible for overseeing loom production planning, weaving operations, fabric quality, manpower management, machine efficiencies, and process improvements within the FIBC manufacturing unit. The role requires strong technical expertise in circular weaving operations and a thorough understanding of FIBC fabric manufacturing processes.
Key Responsibilities
Production Planning & Control
- Plan and execute daily, weekly, and monthly loom production schedules in line with FIBC production requirements.
- Ensure timely availability of fabric for cutting, stitching, and dispatch schedules.
- Monitor loom-wise production, efficiencies, machine utilization, and wastage.
- Coordinate with Tape Plant, Lamination, Cutting, Quality, and Dispatch departments to ensure smooth workflow.
- Optimize production planning to maximize output and minimize changeovers.
Loom Operations Management
- Supervise and manage operations of 6-shuttle and 8-shuttle circular looms.
- Ensure optimum machine settings for fabric width, GSM, picks per inch, tensile strength, and customer specifications.
- Troubleshoot weaving defects and machine-related issues.
- Drive improvements in loom efficiency, fabric quality, and productivity.
- Ensure proper maintenance and upkeep of all weaving equipment.
Technical Expertise
- Hands-on experience with Chinese circular loom machines.
- Strong understanding of circular weaving technology and polypropylene woven fabric manufacturing.
- Ability to identify and rectify weaving defects, tape-related issues, and machine performance concerns.
- Knowledge of loom efficiency calculations, production reporting, and wastage control.
FIBC Fabric Knowledge
The candidate should possess thorough knowledge of:
- Tubular and flat woven FIBC fabrics.
- Coated and uncoated fabrics.
- Food-grade, UN-certified, and specialty FIBC fabrics.
- Fabric GSM control and strength parameters.
- Warp and weft balancing.
- Fabric defect identification and prevention.
- Customer-specific fabric requirements for export markets.
- Fabric consumption calculations and optimization.
Quality Management & Compliance
- Ensure compliance with customer specifications and internal quality standards.
- Monitor fabric quality and implement corrective and preventive actions.
- Support root cause analysis for customer complaints and quality issues.
- Maintain production and quality records as per company requirements.
- Ensure adherence to ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 systems.
- Participate in internal and external audits and maintain necessary documentation.
Maintenance & Process Improvement
- Coordinate with maintenance teams for preventive and breakdown maintenance activities.
- Analyze downtime reports and implement corrective measures.
- Drive initiatives to reduce wastage, improve productivity, and lower conversion costs.
- Implement continuous improvement and operational excellence initiatives.
Team Management
- Lead and supervise loom operators, supervisors, and shift personnel.
- Conduct training and skill development programs for shop floor teams.
- Ensure discipline, safety, productivity, and proper manpower utilization.
- Foster a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
Safety & Housekeeping
- Ensure compliance with plant safety standards and operating procedures.
- Maintain high housekeeping standards within the loom department.
- Support implementation of 5S and safety improvement initiatives.
Educational Qualification
- Diploma / B.E. / B.Tech in Textile Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Polymer Engineering, or a related field.
Experience
- 5–10 years of relevant experience in woven polypropylene fabric manufacturing.
- Minimum 3 years in a supervisory or managerial role.
- Prior experience in FIBC manufacturing will be highly preferred.
Required Skills & Competencies
- Expertise in 6-shuttle and 8-shuttle circular looms.
- Experience handling Chinese loom machinery.
- Strong understanding of FIBC fabric manufacturing and quality requirements.
- Production planning and scheduling expertise.

Pay: ₹60,000.00 - ₹80,000.00 per month
