NewLaVie is seeking an experienced LED Smart Control System Engineer to develop next-generation intelligent lighting solutions for both consumer smart-home and commercial lighting markets.
This role combines embedded software development, IoT connectivity, wireless networking, industrial automation protocols, and advanced lighting control technologies. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in firmware development, smart lighting ecosystems, cloud connectivity, and scalable control systems.
Key Responsibilities
Embedded Software & Firmware Development
- Design, develop, and maintain embedded firmware using C/C++ for microcontrollers including ESP32, Nordic nRF52/nRF53, STM32, and similar platforms.
- Develop applications on RTOS environments such as FreeRTOS and Zephyr.
- Optimize memory utilization, power consumption, and real-time performance.
Smart Lighting Control Systems
- Develop advanced lighting control features including:
- RGBW and Tunable White color mixing
- Dynamic scene management
- Circadian lighting schedules
- Precision dimming and PWM control
- Energy optimization algorithms
- Implement intelligent occupancy, daylight harvesting, and sensor-driven lighting automation.
IoT & Connectivity
- Integrate wireless communication technologies including:
- Bluetooth Mesh
- Zigbee
- Thread
- Matter
- Wi-Fi
- NB-IoT and Cellular IoT
- Develop secure cloud-connected lighting solutions using MQTT, REST APIs, and modern IoT frameworks.
- Support integrations with AWS IoT, Google Home, Apple HomeKit, and other smart-home ecosystems.
Commercial Lighting Networks
- Design and implement commercial lighting control systems using:
- DALI / DALI-2
- DMX512 / RDM
- BACnet
- KNX
- Modbus
- RS-485 Networks
- Support centralized lighting management and building automation platforms.
Security & Reliability
- Develop secure bootloaders and OTA (Over-the-Air) firmware update mechanisms.
- Implement device authentication, encrypted communications, and cybersecurity best practices.
- Ensure high reliability and scalability for large-scale deployments.
Testing & Validation
- Perform hardware-in-the-loop testing and debugging.
- Utilize oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, power analyzers, and lighting measurement equipment.
- Validate thermal performance, dimming behavior, color consistency, and communication reliability.
Required Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Embedded Systems, or Computer Science.
Experience
- 3–7+ years of experience in embedded software development, IoT systems, or smart lighting controls.
- Proven experience developing commercial embedded products from concept to production.
Technical Skills
- Strong proficiency in Embedded C/C++.
- Experience with RTOS platforms (FreeRTOS, Zephyr, or equivalent).
- Deep understanding of SPI, I2C, UART, ADC, DMA, Timers, and PWM.
- Experience with Bluetooth Mesh, Zigbee, Matter, Thread, and Wi-Fi.
- Knowledge of MQTT, TLS, OTA updates, and cloud-based IoT architectures.
- Experience with DALI/DALI-2, DMX512, BACnet, KNX, or industrial automation protocols.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with smart lighting products and connected building systems.
- Familiarity with AWS IoT, Azure IoT, or Google Cloud IoT.
- Knowledge of power electronics, LED drivers, and lighting hardware.
- Experience with cybersecurity for IoT devices.
- Understanding of energy management systems and smart-building technologies.
